Beautiful statue of the famous Portuguese explorer Henry the Navigator, famous amongst other things for his unparalleled journeys by ship south along the coast of Africa as far as Cape Bojador when the danger was they could have fallen off the edge of the world as it was flat back then you know! It's a beautiful statue set on resplendant lawns in front of the Palacio Di Bolsa. Not far from the Ribeira either or the Rua Dos Flores. Definitely well worth tour time, a real piece of history this man.

The statue of Henry the Navigator is easily found if you are walking downhill from Sao Bento Station towards the River Douro. The best time to see and take photos of the statue and the square is early morning before too many tourists are out and about.
