One of the biggest disappointments of our recent three week plus trip to Portugal. Our wonderful, guide said this was a not to miss stop. Yes, the BuiLDing is architecturally stunning, the furnishings equally beautiful, but in the midst of a pandemic, I don’t think there was a single thought given to appropriate social distancing nor did it feel, like they really cared. As other posters have remarked, there wasn’t a thing welcoming about this place; it happened to be lunch time so we opted for a totally mediocre sandwich and a cold drink and it was over 40 euro. Absolutely appalling as we had any number of fantastic multi course dinners for 40 euro. Stick your head into this authentic tourist trap, take the requisite pics and boogy on over to any number of way more interesting nearby cafes for a much better lunch experience. From the surly wait staff, to the ridiculous prices, to sitting almost on top of other tourists just a HUGE disappointment in an otherwise delightful city. UGH.

We splashed out on the 30€ breakfast to celebrate our last day of our vacation in Europe. The orange juice, champagne and yogurt with berries were all excellent. However, the toasted bread and croissants were cold and tasted stale. The waitress was indifferent and we walked away not feeling sated. It was disappointing to have the jam served in small jars and the butter in those horrible peel the top plastic container. Also the serviette was very flimsy - a better quality or cloth one would have added to the dining experience. Thankfully the setting was most enjoyable.

Going down Rua Santa Catarina from our hotel we always passed by this place but there was a line to enter since many people wanted to enter this legendary cafe, so we preferred to do it in the afternoon when there were very few people and we were able to enjoy this wonderful place. It has a classic style, very sober and very beautiful at the same time, the food is very delicious although the prices are high, the service is quite good. We ordered a chocolate coffee and a maçã (apple) cake with Coca Cola Zero, very delicious but expensive, although it was worth it to enjoy and get to know the place.

We visited because the interior looked so beautiful in pictures on line, it does have a very pretty interiorspoiled somewhat by the tables being packed in so tightly. The food is very expensive we had afternoon tea, sounded good on the menu sandwiches scones jam and cream and mini cake with tea or coffee, 35 euros pp, we should have known better. The best thing about it was the actual tea and coffee, the bread on the sandwiches was stale, the scones had been reheated and were obviously not fresh today, they coated the roof of the mouth thoroughly unpleasant, the best thing about the tiny cakes was the mini éclair, the pastry on the pastel de nata was chewy and not what you would expect of one of Portugals national dishes. If you want to see the lovely interior go just for drinks and have your cakes from the shop just up the road pastille de nata 1.45 euro and crispy with delicious Custard filling.

The spectacular café seems stuck in time. For a coffee they charge €6 and they make the most of the space with some small tables packed together in a Parisian style. It was an obligatory stop for a tourist, without further ado.

Cafe Majestik writes in its page comments as one of the 10 best cafes in Europe. I believed these reviews and went here for dinner on my trip to Porto. The cafe environment with a past that has made its name a brand is nice, but the food and service is very bad. a complete scam. I paid 38 euro for 100 grams of grilled meat, coleslaw, french fries and coke. Meat was also very bad. I reported the situation to the chief. but you ate, here is the account. they didn't apologize. I condemn this cafe called Majestik. and if i lived in this country i would definitely sue for compensation. because they are cheating people.

When my mom and I first walked past this cafe, it was very busy with a line out the door. It caught our eye, so a few days later we strolled by again and this time there was no line. We immediately decided to have lunch. The maitre d'hotel was a true gentleman, warmly welcomed us and showed us to our table. The service overall was outstanding. The interior of the cafe is just amazing! Lunch was a little more expensive than other places we've been in Porto but absolutely worth every Euro. Salads and sandwiches were fresh and beautifully presented with high quality ingredients. I can highly recommend Cafe Majestic!

Beautiful place with unique architecture, wonderful food located on the most famous street in Porto (Rua Santa Catarina). Founded in 1922, it was the place where high society at the time frequented. Currently, you pay not just for the coffee, but for the visit to a place where its walls, chairs and benches tell the story of the Majestic café.

You have to go even to just have a coffee, this is a super old school cafe in very much an old English style, waiting staff in Bow ties and jackets, very nice formal service. Building is beautiful and the piano playing In the background is a nice background. We only had a coffee and a pot of tea but was worth it just to say we did. Probably the most I have ever paid for a coffee in Portugal but this kind of service back home costs so much more.

One of the oldest cafés in the city of Porto, very well preserved, maintaining the original design. I've known him since I was a child, many years ago. Today it is more aimed at tourists, almost impossible to enter, and with VERY high prices. If it weren't for the tourists and with these prices it would have to close.
Nothing special in terms of service and products presented, just because it is historic in the city

Do they take reservations, and if yes, can you reserve a table for coffee & light snack, or only full meal? Hope to stop by on arrival day for a shot of caffeine and light bite.

Sorry! But don’t waste your money. Bad and overpriced coffee and food.
Unless you just want to say “you went there”...
Oh! And there is a line to enter the place.

Is there a dress code?

I don't think so. We were there in August and I believe that a female friend and I wore capris and my husband wore shorts.
