Located in the heart of Oporto, the Serralves Foundation boasts a priceless heritage estate, comprised of the Museum (designed by the 1992 Pritzker prize winning architect, Álvaro Siza Vieira); Serralves Villa (a unique example of Art Deco architecture); and by the Park (winner of the “Henry Ford Prize for the Preservation of the Environment” in 1997). As a European cultural institution serving the national community, the Serralves Foundation’s mission is to raise the general public's awareness concerning contemporary art and the environment. Serralves offers a wide range of different eating alternatives, throughout the day –the Restaurant in the Museum, the Auditorium bar or the Tea House in the Park. The Serralves Shop presents a wide selection of Portuguese and international contemporary design products and the Museum Book Shop specialises in publications dedicated to contemporary art. Located in one of Oporto’s most prestigious zones, with excellent access from the historic centre and main thoroughfares, the Serralves Foundation is a unique place in the city - where art and landscape, culture and heritage converge in a contemporary vision. A Must-See for your trip to Oporto!

I can understand why a visit here is not for everyone but I found it an excellent day out - from starting in the gallery and then wandering round the garden and spending time in quite stunning pink house (which also doubles as an art...More

A long way out of the centre and rather disappointing. Listed works of many artists who were actually only shown fleetingly in a film by another artist. Some of the work in the temporary show was quirky and interesting but the majority was thin.

I'd have to agree with the reviewer who says that the park is not for everyone: if you're looking for perfectly manicured flower gardens, you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for a wonderful park with a delightful variety of paths, views, and different settings,...More

We really enjoyed our walk around this sculpture park - even though we were unimpressed with some of the so-called 'art'! We didn't pay to go into the museum but there was quite an interesting temporary exhibition *Yto Barrada) in the villa that was included...More

Serralves house and museum are in a wonderful Parc in the elegant residential area of Porto. There are some very interesting and amusing sculptures dotted around, a well stocked museum, at the time showing art around the theme of "under the cloud" meaning Hiroshima and...More

I took my sons, aged six and eight to visit this contemporary art museum and we ended up spending most of the day there. The inside museum is a real surprise - very thought provoking with some real gems in there. We spent more hours...More

The Art Deco building looks lovely, the water features in front look stunning. The grounds were disappointing, the lawns were mowed, that's about it! The rose garden was half dead and covered in weeds. Maybe the gardener was on holiday!? The lake was a green...More

This was a personal favorite of our guide, Pedro Oliveiro from Viator. The museum itself features some modern art. The gardens with the reflecting pond, eternity pools, and the lake with all the interesting trees including eucalyptus was what was most impressive and peaceful.
