Full of colors, very pretty trees and flowers. Nice view of the Douro and the ribeira! To do we do not regret!!Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 27, 2024
- Carolina ZBraga, Portugal4 contributionsBeautiful walk and perfect for a picnic. The place is worthy of a long stroll. We regret not having brought wine and things for a picnic. The park is large and full of places to sit, enjoy the view and enjoy the peace. Definitely one of the most beautiful places in Porto.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 15, 2024
- Mark TaylorLondon, United Kingdom14 contributionsCultural gardensBeautiful gardens. I came here alone and with friends several times. My favourite time to come, however, is doing Porto's bookshop fair. There are titles in multiple languages and the opportunity to meet several authors while discovering the beautiful gardens.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 29, 2024
- Marco Z61 contributionsNice, quiet placeThe route to the Palacia is quite short coming from the Clerigo, but it leads along very unsightly and busy roads, which is why I recommend using either the historic tram or one of the buses (almost all buses coming from the Clerigo drive past the Palacio). The park itself is really beautiful, with lots of opportunities to relax. There are all kinds of birds running around crowing loudly, there are small ponds, and breathtaking views. I admit, I was always only on the top "level" because I just didn't feel like climbing back up again afterwards.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 30, 2024
- 247sunshine102 contributionsGorgeous Serene ParkThis park was the most calming, beautiful place to visit on a hot day in Porto. It has many paths through the trees and flowers and offers stunning views of the Douro river and Porto. Various birds roam the gardens and the flowers are stunning. Take a picnic and enjoy a wonderful afternoon in a stunning setting.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 23, 2024
- jdelafuenteMalaga, Spain1,179 contributionsIf you visit Porto it is worth itWe had him on the agenda from what we'd seen about him and he didn't let us down. Very nice walk in some very manicured gardens with magnificent views of the Douro. Between peacocks, roosters and ducks along comfortable roads and with public services. Free admission.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 29, 2024
- LIB23Bristol, United Kingdom135 contributionsPeaceful gardensWonderful peaceful gardens. Great shade on a hot day, fabulous views and clean free toilets. We went twice to escape from the traffic and construction noise. Oh and peacocks parading - what’s not to like?Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 1, 2024
- tk3232Sugar Land, Texas4,269 contributionsBreathtaking view and gorgeous plantsThe park is located a little far from the city center in the high part of Porto. The Crystal Palace Gardens is a delightful park, designed at the end of 19th century. We got here by Uber and back to the hotel as well. In my opinion, this is the best observation deck on the Duoro River; the panorama of the river and the city is simply breathtaking. Park is huge and you have to have a time to enjoy the entire ground. In the gardens, you can visit various themed areas, such as the aromatic plant garden, the medicinal plant garden, the feelings garden, rose garden and the big area of beautiful forest. Free WC, cafes, many benches are all around the ground. Oh, what a beautiful pond, so many different birds (bring bread with you, you can feed them), and proud, brilliant peacocks open their fluffy tails for you!!! Park open daily 8 am - 21 pm. And by the way, if you are here, it could be a good time to check out the Romantic Museum, which can be found just around the corner. Enjoy your visit!!Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 29, 2024
- Andrea GCernusco sul Naviglio, Italy194 contributionsShadow and beerA beautiful garden although a bit 'sloppy but that offers two opportunities indeed 3. 1a breathtaking view of the river 2 shade if necessary, 3 a beer hall' inside the structure. Totally out of your mind the cost of climbing to the top of the dome.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 6, 2024
- coh8Glasgow, United Kingdom933 contributionsSelhurst Park never looked so good - you need to come here30 minute walk uphill from our apartment took us past the Clergios tower towards St Anthony's hospital and the entry gates. Pride of place goes to the Super Bock Arena and the beautiful landscaped gardens with great views of the city and the River Douro. While we loved the ducks and peacocks, Conor took the opportunity to participate in a robust and competitive friendly against an international children's select (Por, Fra, Spa) - with a few goals and war wounds to show for his efforts. In short, this great local park has something for everyone and is a must visit. Might even visit the 2-star Michelin venue next time (if I win the lottery?!)Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 19, 2024

the park itself was lovely to explore as it is centuries old and filled with lovely statues, fountains and a pond. Fowl---chickens, rooster, geese and peacocks strut their stuff or just squawk all around you. There is an area by the Lutheran Chapel that provides a stunning view of the river far below and the city landscape. There were some flowering shrubs, pansies at the entry way in small plots but other than that, no flowers. I am handicapped (need a cane to maneuver.) All paths on the one level were easy to get around although the garden continues to various lower levels that I could not access. the 'palace' itself is not handicapped accessible. There was an entry fee to get to the upper levels but no escalator or lift for those with mobility issues. I found that unfortunate in this day and age that it was so restrictive. Aside for the building for which I have no comments, the park itself is very relaxing and enjoyable to walk on the main level.

My last experience in Porto was rather short, but I wanted to return to this park, which in my opinion is extraordinary although generally ignored by the average tourist. It is not really close to the central core of the city, but it can be reached on foot, either by climbing from the banks of the Douro (a rather steep route) or, taking it easy, along the Rua Dom Manuel II, crossing the university-hospital area (and very little touristy) of the city.
The park is notable, not so much and not only for the Crystal Palace (generally closed), but for the beauty of the site, the richness of the vegetation and the splendid panoramic views of the Douro. Unless it's raining cats and dogs, in my opinion it's an excellent destination for walking or resting for half an hour or more.
The ban on access to domestic animals is also appreciable - also with a view to protecting the safety of the numerous terrestrial and aquatic birds that roam free, from peacocks to ducks to chickens - with the result that the park remains immune from the degeneration into "dog kennels". open sky" now unfortunately typical of all, or almost all, Italian green areas.

Beautiful gardens, full of peacocks. I went with my friends at sunset, we walked through the park and it was incredible. Very beautiful, super worth it
The only thing was that we couldn't buy anything in the park at that time, so if you want to eat or drink, I recommend taking it beforehand, because the market isn't far but it isn't next door either.

The prohibition of animals on leashes is a shame. Vaccinated animals with mandatory chip and there is a sign indicating no entry to dogs.
I feel ashamed that users are all treated like outsiders, instead of educating and raising awareness about the use of a leash and respect for other animals in the garden.
I regret that Porto, a city that wants to evolve, continues with discriminatory policies.

Walking around the city and getting to know ourselves, we arrived at this place accidentally but it seemed so beautiful to us since these gardens were spectacular and served to sit and protect us from the sun and the intense heat that it was (August 2022) in addition to cooling off. and hydrate ourselves. Very nice, well maintained, a place where there were a lot of people but it was for a concert that was going to be held that day at the Super Bock Arena. For me one of the places to visit in Porto

The gardens are beautiful and I love going there. As I hadn't been there for a long time, I took advantage of a visit to the port to take a walk there.
I was soon blocked from entering, very politely, by security because I was accompanied by my dog. A mini dog that was on a leash, as required by law.
I understand that this prohibition is for the safety of resident animals, but if the dog is on a leash, is this necessary? A pleasant place for people and animals that I will probably stop going to as I like it because I usually go out for walks, accompanied by my animals, always on a leash as required by law and as a responsible owner that I consider myself

Gorgeous park that often has music and festivals, Make time to truly walk the paths they are well worth the time. Peacocks and rooster walking all over the park. Sunset views are among the best in Porto but go directly to the left of the Bandshell for sundown.

The Crystal Palace, a beautiful park near the center of Porto, owes its name to the building of the same name built in 1865, now replaced by the modern Rosa Mota Pavilion. The park offers a 360-degree view of the city of Porto from the dome of the building. Featuring romantic gardens, fountains, lakes and a modern library, Crystal Palace is an ideal place to relax, picnic and admire the peacocks. With a variety of plant species from different parts of the world, the park presents environments that transform with the colors of the seasons.

Built 170 years ago for a World Expo, these are terrific mature gardens with a mix of French designed structure and English woods like gardens. A surprising number of non native species. Great river views. This was built to impress and it does.
the Portuguese do not really understand marketing gardens as tourism assets. There are few labels, there is only one entrance which limits its utility as a through fare to the river and toilets are difficult to find.

In fact, the palace is not made of crystal, it seems that it is forever under renovation, as it has a green roof, without lighting. It bears no resemblance to the crystal palaces we know in other places in the world. A disappointment, they should change the name of the place.

Does anyone know when the current renovations will be complete? We're visiting Porto in early June, so wondering if it'll be worth a visit then.
