So, we read some of the reviews for the Sandemans Walking Tour and decided to book one for Friday 10th Jan. We booked on for the morning tour (11 am) but were too hungover to make it. Fortunately, we turned up for the 2 pm one and were made to feel very welcome by Diogo who said it wouldn't be a problem to join the tour.

I don't want to spoil the tour for those who are going to book on to it, but it was a very fun and interesting tour with loads of facts that we weren't aware of. He took us to some places that we would never have gone to without the knowledge of a local. We had a nice little 15 min break halfway through the 3-hour tour and had the opportunity to book some other excursions if we wanted. It was very laid back and under no pressure or obligation at all, we booked onto the boat tour for the Saturday (15euros). We really enjoyed that too, so thanks for the recommendation Diogo !!! (we took a few beers with us too :)

I can't recommend this tour enough, Diogo was a well mannered, charming and funny tour guide, who bent over backwards to make the day fun and informative and gave us some brilliant restaurant options for that evening too.

10 out of 10 Diogo !!!

Thanks from Liverpool and Barcelona - Dom and Fran

Last Friday me and my girlfriend went on a free tour with Sandeman and our guide was Diogo. We highly recommend doing this tour with him since he is very casual, interesting and fun. The way he presents the stories and facts about the city and its treasures is attractive and easy to remember them. So far he's the best guide from Sandeman.

These free tours are normally a great way to orient yourself in a new city, and the Porto tour was no exception. Porto is a great place anyway but Diogo, our guide, really brought it to life. He was full of interesting and useful information, suggested plenty of things to do and see, and answered all our questions. He managed to keep us all interested for the full three hours and was enthusiastic and friendly throughout, even though some in our group were difficult to engage with. I have never laughed so much during a walking tour - it was an excellent way to kick off our holiday, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Diogo was one of the best guides we’ve ever had (and we’ve been on about 8 Sandemans walking tours in other cities). We took two tours with him, the free tour with a big group then the paid riverside tour in the afternoon when it was rainy and no one else showed up. We really appreciated that he still gave us the tour even though it was just the two of us and he took us through authentic neighbourhoods and really made the experience special.

In both tours, Diogo gave a great explanation of the region, its culture, the local places to visit and more. He is so patient and took the time to give loads of good recommendations for places to go for food drinks, views etc. What’s more, he was hilarious, very personable, and very intelligent. All in all, 10/10! Great job, Diogo, keep it up! We hope to see you again someday.

I joined the English walking tour of Porto in mid January with a guide Maria João from Porto. I was stunned by the beautiful places, all history and stories Maria shared with us. She paid attention to every single person in the group, answered all the questions we had and shared all her favourite places in Porto. Her English is brilliant! During the tour with Maria you will see that the whole tour passes by real quick and you’re not even aware of it as she makes it in her own special style; filled with humour, engaging and it just absorbs you in the moment. If anyone in doubt of where to go Maria is definitely the right person to go on a tour with! I loved it!

DIOGO! You are a star and the way you communicate the history of Portugal while keeping everyone entertained is beyond words. An oporto local, you get the inside scoop on Oporto and go down the tiny streets less traveled - it was perfect. You speak perfect English and can greet you in almost any other language (Korean, Turkish, spanish, etc) - thank you for a great afternoon walking in Oporto!

This tour provided an excellent overview of Porto's history, culture, and architectural splendor. Our guide, Catherine, was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable, and able to present a wealth of information in a clear and digestible manner. The route covered all the major highlights in a fairly short time period and helped to orient us to the city. Catherine also offered helpful suggestions and recommendations for future exploration around the city

We booked on the free walking tour. Maria was our guide. During the next 3 hours she was not only very knowledgeable and informative, but also very funny and passionate. We learnt so much and what is more, I remember exactly what she said. If you do nothing else whilst you visit this lovely city, book on a tour and be sure to ask for Maria. You won't regret it. Santa Maria of Porto was simply the best, the special one, so Mr Mourinho move over, this town isn't big enough for both of you!

Went to Porto a few weeks ago and signed up for the free walking tour. Originally the tour was cancelled as there weren’t enough people, but Diogo was willing to chat to us about different spots to visit and his personal recommendations regardless. Eventually more people came and made the tour possible and we’re so glad it happened! Diogo was so passionate about Porto, and gave us a much better understanding of the city and it’s history. We had a much more enriching trip because of it! Would highly recommend this.

David Guillén has been an amazing guide. During 3 hours he shared his passion for this city and country with outstanding anecdotes and a deep knowledge about history and culture. The best way to begin our weekend in Porto. Thanks David you rock!
