Just the most beautiful square, perhaps the most alluring part of the old town on Guimaraes. It's located adjacent to the famed Placa D'Oliveira that rightly receives lots of plaudits, but I thought Sao Tiago was just as nice It has a wonderful easy vibe to it with lots of beautiful houses filling all four sides and it's still so local as all the residents were out looking over the square from their porches above the restaurant or just chatting on the cobbles.. Manyrestaurants have their outdoor seating spilling onto the square too which creates a nice hum of activity without bring too packed. At least not in Februray when I visited! There was a pretty tree in bloom in one corner which gave it great character, as did the ancient arcade that separates Tiago from Oliveira. A fabulous place to relax, grab a drink, people watch and chill out.

We found this square by chance, while wandering around the town streets. It is absolutely lovely, a real gem of a place. It is not very large, but that is not a problem at all. It is full of history. This is a central point of the historic part of Guimaraes. A real medieval feel. The architecture is stunning. The buildings look quite old and at times you think a wall or a tile might just fall, but it's only a fear that will never materialise. This is what makes this place so beautiful and attractive. There are lots of eateries around too. Plenty of cafes and a place to sit and relax. Highly recommended.

In Guimarães, Praça Sao Tiago, don't miss the restaurant AMU-TE. Very friendly and warm service. We enjoyed something similar to a Spanish paella which was absolutely excellent. Thanks to the staffs and the chef for that perfect diner

Great place to relax and have a coffee or some lunch and watch the world pass by. Fortunately we also stayed in this square enjoyed the proximity to all of the old town.
