This is a pilgrimage site to the Distinguished Relic of São Torcato. It is a very peaceful place and a good way to spend a little time re-charging...The building is beautiful and and the area around is too. It is easy to access and to park. Nearby there is the famous historical castle which is a must to visit so you can consider a visit to both! O Santuário de São Torcato é um lugar para refletir e admirar. O Santuário é muito bonito assim como a area por perto. Muito fácil para estacionar. Se visitar o Castelo de Guimarães e/ou a Sehnora da Penha podem adicionar este como parte da viagem também!

I wouldn´t say that this is a must in your visit to Guimarães, especially if you are short of time, but this place has its own charm too. The first thing to know is that it´s located in the outskirts of the city, not very far but I guess it might be six or seven kilometres from the centre. When approaching the place by car, if you look at the temple from a distance, it looks quite picturesque, surrounded by green mountains. Once you get there, you´ll notice that it follows the neo-something style so widely followed in the XIXth century. Indoors everything is vast and silent. There´s a sense of monumentality all over the place.. They keep the saint´s body in a very ornated urn as an attraction element for worshippers.
