Just a great palce to stroll around and see the old (and some new) shops. This street has history and you see that.

The most important street of the city. Pedestrian street full of shops and restaurants. Walk by and enjoy the vibe.

I'm not into shopping and it's certainly not why I was in Braga, but nevertheless I found Ruo do Souto brimful of energy and life. Lots of shops obviously, not all high street labels but plenty of local stores too which is good to see. Pedestrianised so good for a stroll to see the beating heart of retail Braga life.

It's the central street in the historical center of Braga. Pleasent to see all the history written on its walls and pathways.
Although, you gotta be careful at night. There are chances of robbery between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Overall, it connects all points of Braga's downtown.

Pleasant pedestrian street with shopping, eating and drinking. In the middle of the old city with tourist sites around.

Rua do Souto is the most famous street in Braga.
It connects two landmarks of the city: "Arco da Porta Nova" one of the ancient points of entry in the city and the "Praça da República" named the city center, with it's fountain and famous coffee shops. It's a non traffic street with lots of small shops, restaurants and coffee places.

The main shopping route through the centre of Braga for pedestrians to sample the city's delights. Plenty of shops, stunning architecture and character plus alleys and walkways that lead off to monuments close by. My tip? If arriving by train or coach you will be close to the city gates at one end of this street where it is signed Rua D. Diogo - walk along it (it becomes Rua Do Souto) until you reach the impressive Largo Barao S. Martinho at the head of Avenida da Liberdade. The Tourist information office is here - extremely plain to see, just look up and the ''Turista'' sign is very evident. Helpful and well stocked, furnish yourself with the required map etc and the city is yours. Rua do Souto will be there waiting for you when you've finished exploring and shopping is a requisite!

Walked this main pedestrian street with its many shops from the Arco da Porta Nova to the Praca do Republico. Plenty to see and explore along the way and stopped in a nice restaurant (Brasileria) at the end for lunch and drinks.
