I booked with Portigal Green Walks (PGW), by email, to walk part of the Camino walk in September 2014. Their service was just fantastic. Emails were answered promptly, good advice was given. They also offered advice in relation to accomodation in Lisbon and Porto, which I visited prior to the Camino walk. I walked aone and did the self guided walk from Valenca. Jose met me at the hotel prior to the walk and clearly explained the walk, directions and the additional information he provided to me then. PGW arranged all my accomodation at various hotels along the way and the transport of my bag from hotel to hotel. . All hotels were conveniently located and included breakfast. In the information provided were suggestions as to places to lunch at along the way, along with suggestions for meals in the evenings. I would recommend PGW without hesitation, especially for anyone who is on their own as I was.

We used Portugal green walks to transport our luggage while walking the Camino from a Porto to Santiago. They were excellent from start to finish. They suggested some accommodation that l'd organised be changed which was appreciated as you never really know what your booking over the internet! , bags efficiently transported without a hitch & they were in contact along the way to check everything was going smoothly, would definitely recommend

Fantastic service.
Jose from Green Walks was always very attentive and prompt as we went through the process of defining and tweaking the trip. We were very impressed with the accommodation arranged for us, it was always clean and comfortable, but eclectic as we stayed in country houses, boutique and modern hotels.
On our first day of the tour we were met by Paulo in our hotel reception and he explained the use of the Roadbook tailored for our trip and the hotel vouchers which contained a picture of the hotel and an annotated map containing the Way and the hotel location. He attached the labels for the bags to be transferred and drove us to our start point.
I left my iPhone charger in a country house and a representative of Green Walks delivered it to me in our next hotel before I even knew I had lost it.
Although we were in a different hotel every day, we were always expected and our baggage was always waiting for us near reception.
In summary, the service was first class and the price was very competitive, I have no hesitation in recommending Green Walks and would certainly travel with them again.

We took Portugal GreenWalks' 8 day self-guided walking tour of the Douro Valley. Both the itinerary and the execution were perfect. The accommodations were wonderful and there were no glitches at all in the transport of our luggage or the check-in at our hotels. You really can't do better. The Douro Valley in May is magical. The walks themselves were very manageable (we are in our early 70's), but there are many hill climbs involved -- it is best to start early before the afternoon heat.

We are coming from beirut lebanon. We started our camino from vigo. We were really impressed by the professionalism of PGW. They were answering our emails immediately, very proactive, very open to any changes. The choice of the hotels was more than expected. The punctuality of the taxi and the service were excellent. They met us in the hotel and spent around 1h with us to give us the book and all the details. We were more than satisfied by their service. Sure i am planning more trips to porto and sure with PGW. Big thanks for making from our trip an unforgettable experience thank you PGW and special thanks to jose

Outstanding company. They set up our walk and everything worked smoothly. Luggage transfer was flawless, hotels (with only two exceptions) were excellent, and the information provided was outstanding. For the two "not so good" hotels, they were, however, the best available so we can't really complain. Would highly recommend the company and will use again in the future.

We bought the Camino package from Porto to Santiago. I had requested 3-4 star hotels and understood in advance that there were a couple of two stars. Okay if that's all but it wasn't. When we arrived and were just about to start hiking, the company told us one hotel was very dirty and not nice but at that point there wasn't much we could do.
So here's what was good and not so good:
- the directions to hotels in each city was not good - we often were lost and this is frustrating after a long 20+km on your feet each day. Need to improve this.
- about half the hotels were fantastic and half not - rural farm house style accommodation or nice boutique hotels in more urban locations were lovely.
- where this company fell short was mixing too many different types of accommodation and not responding appropriately to clients.
I hiked with another woman who also was booked through this company - she tried to contact the company mid trip to arrange alternative accommodation for a really, really awful hotel and the owner was rude and completely unhelpful. For this reason alone I would not recommend anyone book the Camino Portuguese through Portuguese Green Walks. I will not be recommending them.

The horse riding through the National Park was simply amazing. Carlos allows you to do anywhere from 2 to 6 days. Because of time restrictions I could only do 2 days, but what an absolutely amazing 2 days it was. The scenery was breathtaking, the riding exhilarating and the cultural experience unrivalled. A world class product. The best riding I have done anywhere in the world, beyond the shadow of a doubt. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

We made it all the way from Porto to Santiago. A wonderfully positive family experience due in no small way to the excellent arrangements made by Portuguese Green Walks on our behalf. Everything worked as described. The accommodation was as promised and our bags moved along to be waiting as we arrived at a new place each evening.
The personal briefing was much appreciated and the attention to detail meant that there was never any confusion or frustration. The small rural hotels in Arcos, Quintiaes and Cassourado are true gems. Other highlights for us were Ponte de Lima and Caldas de Reis.
What would we do differently? - We would break the walk into two stages and take a one day rest in Valenca/Tui on the border between Portugal and Spain. Valenca is a spectacular fortress and Tui a charming medieval town - plenty to see and a perfect time and place to rest the feet before leaving the pleasures of Portugal for Spain.
What was a problem?
How did we get on? The first day walk along the coast was a success in getting us off to a good start followed by our first night on the Camino in a lovely rural guest house - Antonio is the perfect host - which set the scene for the remainder of the walk. We found the heat quite debilitating. We found the Portuguese section of the Camino to be relatively quiet, quite beautiful, inexpensive and the people absolutely wonderful. The Spanish section had many more walkers, has more road sections and becomes quite urban in places. Nothing could equal the feelings of triumph and satisfaction when we walked up the hill into Santiago and on to the Cathedral.
So - a very big thank you for making our Camino a success. We are thinking seriously of coming back to Portugal to walk in the hills and will look for you to get us set up for success. We strongly recommend Portuguese Green Walks to anyone wanting to walk the Camino Portuguese.

I recently participated in the 11 day self-guided tour offered by Portugal Green Walks along the Camino from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. Jose and Paulo at Portugal Green Walks were accommodating in every way possible: all the questions I sent them via email were fully answered within 24 hours and that caring service was also on display when Paolo picked me up at my hotel in Porto to begin the Camino. The company provided a wealth of very useful information before I began the trip and the guide book they furnished on Day One was a particularly useful resource along the route.
The tour included nightly accommodations along the way and each of the lodgings was conveniently located on or near the Camino. Each room was clean, comfortable and included its own bathroom. Breakfast was included each morning as well as three dinners during the 11 days.
I opted to have Portugal Green Walks transport my suitcase each day and would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about doing the Camino. It's said that walking to Santiago makes you consider what's really vital in life and that certainly applies to all the physical objects we think are "essential" when we begin our journey. It was wonderful, on both a physical and spiritual level, to travel with a simple backpack containing just the basics (e.g., water, rain gear).
I enthusiastically and unreservedly recommend Portugal Green Walks to anyone interested in doing the Portuguese Camino to Santiago. You will not be disappointed.
