we went in a very cold winter morning, was magical to see the mist clear up as hours passed by. The twisting mountain road also wrenched the perception of time... lost in translation..
tour guide was extremely helpful and it is exactly in the detours that came out most fun

Check out the region of Vinho Verde, Minho. So many great wines coming from for example the sub-regions of Ave, Moncao, Melgaco and Lima. Search for Alvarinho, Loureiro, Avesso or the red Vinhão!

‘vinho verde’ – a young or green wine is second-most exclusively Portuguese wine in the world. It is fresh and crispy and perfect in summer. And green wine tour in northern Portugal (vinho verde region) is perfect for the summer trip. The tour was organized by Cooltour Oporto and starting from the comfortable minivan, interesting route, excellent guide Pedro and, of course, the wine itself - it was a great trip! One of our best memories from Portugal. I can’t even say which one I liked better - visiting small winery Quinta das Escomoeiros (very beautiful, welcoming and tasty) or visiting Quinta Aveleda, an historic and famous large winery with super beautiful gardens, house and tasty wine again. We had lunch in Amarante city which is known in region for its good food. Specialty of the region is meat and the one we had for lunch was really delicious. Since we were only 3 travelers that day we in all actuality had premium class private tour – the day was pure pleasure. Did I already mention it was beautiful and tasty? :)

Despite the rain at the out set this was a great your. Guide provided a running info of everything we passed or attended. Lunch was five stars as was the wine served. Would do this tour again when I go back to Porto.

Green wines are made in this region. Great with shell fish. Serve cold. Verey scenic as the vines are trained on trellis overhead. Nice trip.
