Really enjoyed this trip out and even saw one of the sails unfurled. The replica is done out like a real pirate ship and make sure you go below deck to the displays there. The ship is immaculate. The madeira cake and wine included in the price is very tasty. Only crticism would like the crew to have behaved more... More

There are two aspects to this trip. One is a sea cruise around the coast of Madeira with the possibility of spotting dolphins and/or whales. You can do this in any of several craft at a range of prices and sizes of craft. The trip offered by the Santa Maria is as good as any: whether you spot the sea... More

This is one of the best boat trips I have been on and certainly the best one in Madeira. We saw a group of about 6 dolphins relatively close, they were magnificent and it was a real treat as I didn't think we'd see them February . Whilst the sails were not lowered, we did imagine what it must have... More

Taking a 3 hour trip on this replica of Christopher Colombus' flagship is a wonderful experience and fully met my expectations. Ordinary tourists rarely have an opportunity to go to sea in replica historical vessels (this one was built on Madeira in 1998) so full marks to the locals for such an excellent initiative. Getting a ticket was straightforward. I... More

The Santa Maria sails twice a day and, on our trip , we sailed westward. The sails were unfurled for our outward journey and it was just great to feel the power of the wind moving the ship. The ship is designed to be as close as possible in appearance and functionality to an old sailing galleon so don't expect... More

Seen this sail past our hotel many times.Last holiday the weather didn't let them out on the day we went. This happened a few times this year so don't bank on it sailing every set time. We went out in fairly lively seas. Safe enough and you won't get splashed. We didn't count on seeing Whales or Dolphins and didn't... More

Thought this might be a bit cheesy, and it is. But had a great trip, the Ship got right in close to four Sperm whales, and also a Beaked Whale, the crew are very informative, and friendly. Also went out to the sea cliff 180m high, very impressive, though we did see the Ship on our way to the Airport,... More

something a bit different, great crew, nice views of the coast, really know there sealife and a nice touch is they go under sail part of the way back, wine and cake is part of the ticket price, all in all one great way to spend a few hours on the water.
