My wife and I both enjoyed our visit here. We arrived just before the 3 pm opening and we each paid the 2 € admission charge. The monastery is situated on the hillside barely 10 minutes walk from Funchal town centre. The church, cloisters and...More

Only €2 euros each to go inside and guided tour included. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a thorough tour. So beautiful to see, we would highly recommend it.

We had our own personal tour as no one else there. So interesting and really quite an evocative place. The decorations are beautiful and the history is really interesting. Well worth a visit

We stumbled upon this by accident, and got a guided tour for 2€ per adult, which was a bargain. Such a beautiful spot, great guide, and lots of history of Madeira. Make sure to check when it is open.

Upon arriving we were mixed in with a wedding party who were also using the venue. The tickets were not badly priced for a tour - 2 euros each but quite frankly the tour guide spoke bits of English and other bits in French. The...More

This is a beautiful, peaceful spot in the centre of Funchal up a steep hill (we got a taxi). The convent is open 10-12 (except Sundays). Arrive 5 minutes before, ring the bell for admittance and take the wonderful guided tour at a cost of...More

We have visited many churches and monasteries but this was unique in showing us the nuns private chapels and chapter house and also the grille used to cut them off from the world. Our guide was interesting and quirky. Well worth the time.
