Great little cocktail bar. We came here several times over our stay and worked our way through the cocktail menu which was brilliant. There is only one person running the show but I would be patient as it’s a great venue for an after dinner cocktail

After walking around Funchal for two hours trying to find a bar that had people in it we returned here. It’s a lovely bar in the old town. Has a lovely ambience about it, looks very new, staff were great- drinks were not over priced and the music was good. There were probably ten of us on a Saturday evening. This is not a reflection of the bar- more of the fact there is no nightlife in Funchal!

Dani boy - self acclaimed Tom Cruise of Funchal ! Thanks for making us laugh. Good time had by all. Some good music & if you can stand the pace (we didn't !) you can party on 'til the early hours. Randomly shut a couple of night when we were there - Dani, you lost a few drinks from us there !!. Have frun.....

Earlier this week I visited this bar. I had been there previously on a Friday and Saturday night when they have a DJ and the music wasn't very good. I was speaking to the barman and he informed me that they had changed the DJ and the music was much better so he invited me to come at the weekend and see for myself. So last night I arrived and the doorman refused me entry. At first he was just rude and sullen and wouldn't give a reason. When I pressed him he said it was because I was wearing shorts. I informed him that I had been there before and had worn shorts and wasn't refused entry. I asked him if the rules had changed and he replied "I run the door, I make the rules". Lots of people are wearing shorts. The manager needs to be aware that he is turning away business in the tourist industry that is suffering badly in Madeira.
Also be aware that this bar is expensive compared to other bars in Funchal, and it is even more expensive on Fridays and Saturdays as it increases its prices even more.
So avoid this bar if your wearing shorts, dislike high prices, and disapprove of rude and arrogant doormen.

Visited this bar last evening, Friday 13th May, in good dress but wearing tailored shorts. Told by the idiot and rude door person we were not good enough to come in, his words exactly, Not Good Enough! This island is mostly poor, they should really think about their policy and how they treat visitors. I was with 2 local people meeting local people. We all left and gave our business to another establishment who cared not a jot about my tailored shorts. Vintage Bar.......You are Crap and I hope you fail!!!!

We went to the place last night, me and my Husband didn’t like the place, so we wanted to leave. But doormen refused to let us go, he insisted that we first have to buy a drink for at least 5 euros. I told him that we don’t want this so he pushed me away from the door. We both had to buy a drink to be able to go out. My Husband left and I wanted to go out with my gin tonic. A few people had drinks outside. On the door the doormen took my drink away from me and pushed me out. Horrible place not to recommend. I called the police, they only said we have to complain on Monday in the Loja de cidadao.

We were immediately welcomed by the bar team and spent many enjoyable evenings at the Vintage Bar. It was like leaving close friends when we had to come home. Thank you the kind and talented crew: DÃbora, Sara, Bruna and Patricia.

Although it was raining and the lads running the place were outside having a smoke break they were very chatty and helpful, they made us our drinks and then left us alone whilst they operated inside..I took the glasses back and asked for the bill only to find they had the highest prices we paid for a G&T in Funchal..the music and disco light interior were no match for those prices.

Bar was friendly and had an interesting selection of gins. Barman got me to try a Portuguese gin which I had never seen before. It was good, he was helpful. Early evening before dinner. It looks a bit clubby and indeed later in the evening there were door staff and really crap music blaring out!!

Fabulous meal and superb service from Ana. I had Gambas and my partner a steak . The food was so tasty. Perfect quantity and selection.
