As most viewpoints in Madeira, this is absolutely lovely, probably the best in town, and it is not higher than you get a good view even when the higher peaks are foggy.

We visited on a "Nun's Valley" half-day tour. Worth the stop and with a good adjacent snack-bar and shop if you missed lunch, as we did!

This was the first stop on one of our tours of the island, and it was a really nice place to visit if you like panoramic views. I would advise going there early to avoid crowds, to get a better ambience, for instance between 0900...More

We visited using the 'hop on hop off' tour bus. There is an excellent cafe with free toilets available, there is no need to pay for the privilege of using the cafe/souvenir shop toilets where the bus drops you.

This was our first stop in the island, it’s only 7mins drive away from Funchal, the view only this high is already amazing specially with good weather. A must see when in Madeira!

This was the last stop on our way back from a trip to the Nun's valley. It was late in the afternoon and so was quiet and we were able to get unimpeded views.

Part of the Hop On Hop Off bus tour. Worth seeing. Also good coffee in the local cafe. Gets busy but able to take reasonable photos if you're patient

It overlooks a valley with a town at the end of it. I'm sure Funchal would be better for the fireworks but haven't seen them yet myself.
