Thank you for your review.
We have a range of activities at Holy Trinity - from worship Services through to daily concerts (arranged by local musicians), Bridge Club, Art Group, Bible Study, Mother's Prayers.
We are always pleased to welcome visitors (and new parishoners !) to any of our Services and activities - or just to come and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of our gardens.

If you are in the vicinity of this church when you are exploring Funchal it's worth a look. Set within a peaceful garden, the building is square but inside??? The cupola on the roof and the design of the gallery and its supporting columns make it appear circular. I don't know if it's currently open daily due to covid restrictions although the garden is.
It also has a good series of daily concerts; classical violin, gypsy violin, jazz and blues etc. This year we attended the Gypsy Violin concert and we were looking forward to the violin and electric guitar jazz and blues Hot Club de Madeira concert but sadly, our holiday was cut short. These are about €15 pp. We'll be back

We visited the English Church for the first time for the Friday lunchtime classical concert. We walked up from the city centre and enjoyed the workout walking up.
The garden in which the concert is performed is quite pleasant and the performers are good with a nice choice of pieces. We liked the competition from the birds which did seem to sing louder while the musicians were playing.

A unique place. The Church, besides being historic and beautiful, features live music every day of the week. Everything from classic to pop and vintage Rock and Roll. Get the schedule on their website. Best place in town to enjoy a variety of music/

We went to two fantastic musical concerts during our stay in Funchal. The first entitled 'Hot Club da Madeira' featured Andrei Ladeishikov(violin) and Robin Hird (electric guitar) played their musical influences (Shadow/Hendrix/Peter Green), then violin pieces by the classically trained Andrei followed by gypsy jazz made famous by Grappelli and Rheinhardt. The finale of Bohemian Rhapsody with Andrei playing the Freddie Mercury part was the highlight of an incredible evening. All this for 15 Euros was superb value and a wonderful start to the eveining.
The second evening featured Andrei, Robin, Olga (Andrei's wife) and a very accomplished classical bass player played a variety of rock classics. Again another wonderful evening.
Andrei is one of the most talented musicians I have come across and there were several occasions when Robin Hird, an experienced guitarist who has backed several top artists, was just standing back admiring what Andrei was playing.
I thoroughly recommend for a fabulous start to an evening.

We bookedo it for the Friday String Concert being preformed by “Orchestra quartet plays Rock”. The arrangements of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones,Queen, Pink Floyd and many other great bands were amazing beyond my words. The four musicians combined in a evening of shear unadulterated music pleasure. No wonder they play in a church, they’re all blessed musicians and their music was out of this world. Don’t miss them.

We spent a glorious hour this morning listening to Andrei Ladeishikov (violin), Olga Samara (violin) and Lasglo Sgepesi (cello) - performing a beautiful selection of popular classical music. The setting in the gardens of the English Church is beautiful - and Holy Trinity Church is a real gem.
Despite the gusts of wind that really challenged the players management of their music scores, they performed brilliantly - and with total professionalism.

A church more interesting for its history than its actual building, although it is a nice enough early Victorian building. Very plain and unembellished. There is almost no explanation of its history to be found in the building, which in itself is almost impossible to find. We asked a number of people who weren't sure at all, and in the end a policeman took us to the street.

Thank you Steve for your review. We're sorry that you found the Church difficult to locate but glad that you did find us and hope that you enjoyed your visit. (We are sad that we were not able to hold a Eucharist today - due to the restrictions as a result of the current Covid-19 pandemic).
If you would like to learn more about the history of the Anglican Church in Madeira and the building (inaugurated in 1822, during the reign of George IV) information can be accessed on our website :-www.holytrinitychurchmadeira.com/history.

Three superb musicians playing classical arrangements of Beatles songs, some by Andrei, one of the trio.
It was in the garden of the church and hearing 'Blackbird' accompanied by the local blackbirds singing their hearts out as the sun went down was sublime.
There's quite a varied program through the week. This is well worth finding at the start of your evening.

Holy Trinity church provides a charming venue for some talented professional musicians of Funchal. Outside in the garden on a balmy evening or in the church with its outstanding acoustics you are guaranteed a real treat.
My wife and I listened to three shows .
Gypsy jazz outside in the garden.
Engaging clasical violin duets with popular excerpts from Vivaldi, Bach and Mozart, played with great energy and musicality by internationally acclaimed Olga Samara and Andrei Ladeishchikov sensitively accompanied by Adras Hennel on the piano.
And, in the middle of a tropical downpour a violin recital by Olga accompanied by the versatile Andrei on the piano. The highlight of the evening being the demanding Bruch first violin concerto played by Olga with superb intensity.
The last two performances Inside the Church.
Listening to these concerts nailes the memorable experience that Madeira provides for us .

Hi, my husband & I would like to have a blessing or renew our wedding vows in church when we visit Funchal in July 2019. Is this something you could help us with plse? Thanks
Written November 24, 2018
They did it for us. They incorporated our wedding in with the Sunday morning service and it was wonderful. Canon John and Cefyn were amazing. Many thanks went to the regular churchgoers for making our day extra special. I recommend you get in touch with them directly.
