The whole family from 6 to 70 years enjoyed the 15 minute long cable car ride to Monte. We bought one way tickets for €10 per adult and €5 per child (children under 7 rides free), as we wanted to take the basket sledge back. The view over Funchal was amazing! Upon arrival they offered you to purchase a photo... More

A great way of getting an aerial view of Funchal but beware if several cruise ships in as it can get busy - go later in the day to avoid them. A great way to do this is to get a single up and then get the sledge ride down to a point where you can either walk down hill... More

We got the cable car up to Monte and then had a look around the gardens and the lovely little church up there. It is quite steep up to the church, wear flat comfortable shoes, no flip flops. The taboggan ride is a great experience, one I would do again. Costs 15 euro each but it only takes you half... More

Amazing views across Funchal and a bit nicer then the bus to get to Monte to look around! I think the cost is a little high though. 15 euros round trip.

Lovely journey to the top of the Monte on the small cable car. Easily accessible in the centre of Funchal, and only a small queue. The sleds that bring you some of the way down in you are feeling brave are great fun. If you want to walk the rest of the way back into town it's about 3/4 mile... More

Great way to see Funchal and at same time gets you to Monte and toboggan ride. Kids under 5 free so 25 euros for 2 adults and one teenager. 15 minute ride in cable car for 4 so just our family. Not sure about other reviews saying a bit scary - perfectly stable and smooth ride and kids loved view.... More

Being honest I am not keen on cable cars but you have face your fears. The ride takes about five minutes but the views must be similar to what a bird sees in flight. Grit your teeth and do it.

Beautiful views on cable cars and once you are up the top. It is 15 euros return but you can come half way down by a basket but it is 20 euros by cab the rest of the way, was a lovely trip
