We were greeted by a very pleasant South African gentleman. The extensive range of orchids are not the usual ones you will see in a house. There were many double orchids, petite orchids as well as unusual hanging pod plants. A real eye opener for...More

Nice place to browse a good range of orchids, exotic climbers and other interesting plants. This isn't a polished, commercial setup, but more like someone's hobby and pastime. The selection of orchids on display was good, with lots of unusual (to us, anyway) varieties, including...More

Came here as it's on the hotel tour list. Somewhat dilapidated and staff very laid back. Beautiful orchids and tea on the terrace is lovely.

We were shown around by Patrick who gave us the most amazing talk about his garden and all his orchids. I would certainly go again and if you like flowers it is a visit not to be missed.

The orchid collection is limited. The gardens do need some work on them. If walking up to the gardens don't follow the road sign as it takes you up a narrow alleyway and tunnel.

We walked up from Funchal to visit this wonderful nursery. The climb is very steep!!! On the way back we found a slightly longer but less steep route. The plants were amazing. The jade tree had come into bloom. So many different orchids. We spoke...More
