We can definitely recommend this tour company.
We had Marta our driver and tour guide.
Marta did a great job, she was very knowledgable and had a great sense of humour.
We did the West tour and then booked the East tour, because we enjoyed it so much.
We went to a restaurant that Marta recommended 3 courses with wine/coffee and tea for 15 euro’s p.p we was not disappointed! Excellent food and value.
Both trips were all day and was defo good value for money.

We used Happy Tours for both the island tours we booked. They charge €10 per person less that jet2 and it’s all small numbers on the minibuses.
We took the East tour first and it was an enjoyable 7 hours for €25 each and just 8 on the bus. The driver/guide gave information as we went along.
We took the west tour for €25 each which had 16 passengers. This tour was 15 minutes late picking up then we had to return for passengers which another bus had left behind, making it 30 mins late. The driver explained it was due to administrative errors and was very apologetic. He was more informative throughout the day than the previous driver/guide.
I emailed and reserved both these in advance and walked to the shop and paid once we arrived but they can all be booked and paid for on line if that’s your preference.
Both these trips were exceptional value for money. We tipped the drivers €5 at the end of each.

Ricardo was our driver and he was gregarious and energetic.We were picked up from our hotel as promised and spent the day with 6 other people in the jeep, visiting various tourist spots and doing a couple of short levada walks. What a day-we both thought it was wonderful.The off-road part was fantastic and Ricardo is a very good driver. I suppose you are reliant on the other passengers being good company and they were.The tour was in French for them and English for us but it was also good practice for us to understand French.We all had lunch together-3 courses for 15 Euros including wine, water and coffee.We visited a rum distillery and various other spots.We went from being absolutely frozen to boiling hot so wear layers! I highly recommend this company.We went to places you would never venture in a hire car and we always felt safe.

Only giving 1 star to Madeira Happy Tours as it was the minimum allowed.
We visited Funchal last month and were extremely happy to book 3 trips with them.
The website seemed appealing and the prices even more, especially the attractive 15% off bundle they advertised.
We decided to visit the shop personally to decide which trips to book and, when asking about whether the discount was applicable, we were informed that it was only valid on the website - the staff member was then extremely rude and also told us that if we tried to book on the website he would decline applying the discount.
That immediately put us off booking anything with them, as it seemed we were the ones at fault for asking for an advertised deal.
We booked our trips with a different tour operator and got extremely better deals and enjoyed our trip.

Our hotel collection failed to show until we were directed to local office, where the vehicle had broken down. After 30 minute wait we started the tour but with minimal time in each stop, I would recommend a day tour instead of half day if visiting the Nuns Valley. More time in fishing village rather than valley village owing to what there is to explore and see.

We had a wonderful time! Marta our guide was so funny and so kind. Our 8 year old started to feel sick and she went out of her way to make sure she was comfortable. The mini bus was fantastic, extremely clean and comfortable. We will be doing other tours with this company .

Booked a number of tours and walks with the company and enjoyed every one of them. Very good organization, thought-out itineraries, bonus stops along the way (viewpoints, rum tasting, etc.). You can feel at once that the guides love their island and try to pass on this love to the guests. The guides on walks are very professional and with a good sense of humor. If you don’t have a car or don’t want to walk the peaks and levadas of Madeira unguided, the company is a great option. Definitely recommend!

I took five tours with Madeira Happy Tours during my week on the island and was pleased with the company. I described my full day tours separately under each tour. This is a review of the Madeira by Night Tour.
I was surprised when I was picked up at my hotel by a car instead of a van or bus. I was the only person who booked the tour on that evening. Instead of cancelling the tour, I was picked up in a car and brought to the restaurant, A Parreira. I was seated by myself at the front of a long table, with a space between me and the next group. The food was a set menu with unlimited refills. I enjoyed the salad and the beef skewers.
The show itself was in two acts. A folklore group gave an excellent performance for about 30-40 minutes, took a break, and then returned for another 30-40 minute performance. I had an excellent view of the show.
At the end of the show, my driver brought me back to my hotel. I think the driver was the company owner/manager. It was very nice to get a taste of the local culture on my last night on the island. Thank you Madeira Happy Tours.

We booked the Nuns valley half day tour. This was very good, we were collected in a small coach at 9am, returned at just after 1. The driver also did the commentary. He was well informed and provided plenty of info. There was adequate time allowed at each stop.
The Nuns Valley scenery was breathtaking, beautiful. The fishing village was pretty.

We did the West Island tour with driver/guide Hugo. He was knowledgeable and told us lots of information about the history and culture of Madeira. We had bad weather in the morning but Hugo managed to adapt the tour so that we had more time in the sun on the north of the island. We had a long stop in Porto Moniz with time to swim in the lava pools. Hugo was a safe driver and we had a fantastic day.

Hello, I have just read your review of Happy Tours Madeira and wonder if you could say which area of the island is best to see. We will probably only be able to do 2 half days and we note that they offer north, south, west and east tours. Many thanks hope you had a great hoiday .

Personally I would choose one of the levada walks rather than a bus tour. Have a look at their brochure online to see which one might be best for you, as it depends on your level of fitness and how far you want to walk. There are half day walks and excursions, so it may even be possible to do both a walk and a bus tour in the same day. Again, take a look at the website to see what the options are and what would be best for you. All the information including details about lunch should be on there.

Enjoyed a one-day Happy Tours tour near Funchal for 8 of us off of a ship but got taken at a sea food restaurant recommended by the guide. Food was fine but they brought and charged us for about $70 worth of side dishes we did not order. Have a great time but just watch for this scam. Otherwise we were quite happy with Happy Tours.

Yes, the driver was waiting by the ship at 8.30am with a paper showing my name. We then stopped at 2 hotels and picked up 2 more customers.The driver could have taken us back to the ship, but opted to be dropped off in Funchal to do a bit of shopping.
