Good day out

We took the cable car to the gardens late morning and spent a few glorious hours wandering around. The views are amazing.

Whilst in Madeira we visitd the beautiful tropical gardens. We had a guided tour and the guide was very knowledgeable. It was a lovely relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

For garden lovers a must see and take ideas back home. As the different plants and flowers are described you are able to take notes back home. It's well kept and lots of nice niches to explore. Be prepared to climb back up.

beautiful gardens, lots to see....but be warned, it is very steep in places. It wasn't at it's best when I was there as there had just been a forest fire on the island, but it is well worth a visit

Amazing garden with a huge collection of plants from all over the world. You can walk for hours, relax and get fascinated by it's beautiful and charming themed areas (Japanese, Chinese, etc).

The tropical garden is beautiful, full of different kinds of plants, fountains, ponds and statues. But the tiring factor is that the garden is on a hill, and you must walk from up to down to go through it and then walk back up. REALLY long walk.

A beautiful spectacular of colours, waterfalls, African art, mosaic tiles and lots and lots of steps. If your fit and able then this is a bucket list place to see and worth every penny.

Possibly a little overpriced, but we were pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed it, particularly the lake in the centre. This was after the fires and the Botanical garden was closed

A huge variety of flowers and other species... Don't miss the orchideas in the lower garden! In addition there is a collection of semi precious stones in the indoor museum...

If it is hot down in the city, this is a nice escape to a place where you can chill out a bit under the trees. Besides, the gardens are very nice, I loved also the Portuguese azulejos tiles throughout the garden. Just little things I didn´t like: 1. the café roof does not fit in the surroundings at all...
