Good value if you purchase ticket in conjunction with cable car ticket. Takes a couple of hours to explore thoroughly. There are lots of tiled displays detailing the history of Portugal and Madeira which we enjoyed. Different themed gardens to explore. In August not that many flowers in bloom though. There are 2 exhibitions one on different crystals ans gems... More

I think we probably did not see the gardens at their best visiting in August. However they are worth visiting combining the trip to see the church and the ride up I the cable car and down in the basket. If you have a hire car and van get to explore Madeira then you realise that the whole island is... More

This is an absolute must when visiting Funchal and Madeira; Joe Berardo's exquisite collection will blow you away! The plants, the atmosphere, the flowers, the fish, the hotel hidden in the middle... If you speak Portuguese there's a beautiful section dedicated to the Portuguese who sailed to Japan! Amazing!

We had a very pleasant time strolling around the garden. The Gardens flow nicely and there are lots of sculptures to enjoy. €25 for two adults and a child. This time of year most of the flowers have passed, think June and July are peak flowering months. Even so the gardens are enjoyable.

We used cable car to get there. Well maintained garden and promises overall. Combined ticket with cable car. I'm not keen on gardens but this one was super.

Visited the gardens on a combined ticket with the cable car. We arrived early around 9:50 am at which time there were few visitors and it was very peaceful. We were provided with a map in which the gardens appeared bigger than we thought. We explored our own route although they suggest a few on the map. Beautiful oriental sections,... More

Just lovely gardens to walk around on a hot day, lots of shade, interesting displays of Zimbabwean carved soap stones, semi precious minerals and lots of plants, trees, koi fish etc. However, be aware that they only take cash in the cafe - don't get caught short of cash as I did, especially with hungry and thirsty family in tow....
