The gardens are very well tended to. Even though we had a cloudy day with some spotty rain drops, we enjoyed the visit very much. The variety of all possible flowers, trees and shrubs, the decoration, patterns and colors was wonderful. Personally I must say, that these gardens have a larger variety and are better organized than the Monte Tropical... More

This garden has a wide range of plants that are grown in Madeira and Porto Santo, and many are grouped so that you can see the how many types there are.

We visited during the annual flower festival and the gardens were very well presented. Nicely zoned with interesting plants in each. Pleasant restaurant overlooking the ponds if you don't mind the bullfrogs. Good local bus service from Funchal

This garden is very interesting. The main showpiece is like a lawn of cake. the whole garden is wonderful and quite large. Unfortunately the Parrot park was closed when we visited and by the looks of it has been for some time. So if you are thinking of going there to see parrots beware.

This garden is at the top of a very high hill, you can get here by cable car or taxi. There is a free museum to look round, full of artifacts found on the Island. The garden is beautiful, with many flowers and trees. However be careful walking round as there are many stairs and uneven surfaces. Funchal is stunning... More

Walked from Camacha to the Jardim, with a very very steep descent from the Levada (if you ever do this, then give in to the predatory taxi). Virtually crippled on arrival and decided it was just the way to enjoy the gardens, wandering from well-situated bench to well-situated bench, enjoying the trees and the flowers and the splendid view. It... More
