I visited the property and gardens on my own then returned to visit the gardens with my husband. Gardens are free entry and the entrance fee to the property was a mere 3 euros. The gardens are lovely, not too manicured but looked after, with...More

Different flowers were in bloom including orchids and we visited in January. Small but pleasant green garden. In the Quinta it was obvious the Portuguese have been different in their attitude towards their colonies as artefacts showed an intergration of styles both Portuguese and from...More

The Quinta reopened in early December 2018 so earlier reviews suggesting one should avoid it should be ignored.

Off a steep side-road. Active building work taking place. Sign says structural works. So definitely closed for some tome. Convent close-by closed Sunday. Actually only touristy things mostly open on Sunday. Free entry to Natural History museum on Sunday.

You go into this beautiful hotel, up in Monte and opposite the Reception is a display of constructions in which rich and powerful Ladies and Gentlemen were being carried by local people - like in Ancient Rome. Worth seeing.

Long walk up the hill only to find it is temporarily closed. There do not appear to be any warnings of this on the website.

We arrived just before the lunch break when the quinta is closed from 12:30 - 14:00, so we only visited the garden. It was a very pleasant break but not worth the effort to get there as we had already visited the Monte gardens. However...More
