Not one of the more extraordinary cathedrals that we visited in Portugal, but it is easy and quick to see in city center and worth a stop if you are in the area.

The interior is fairly plain which in some ways is a positive however for a cathedral I would expect a little bit more but it is still worth a visit.

Beautiful cathedral of Funchal. There is not much to see, but you should have a look if you want to see something different, because the churches in Madeira are quire unique.

Note this is only open some of the time for tourists morning and part of afternoon. It is however a place that of worship and should be treated in a manner that is respectful .

Masses on sunday usualy are at 11 am and 5 pm. I would sugest you attend the english easter sunday service in the anglican holy trinity church in rua do quebra costas, funchal at 11 am. This is where all the english comunity... More
