A symbol of the nation, it tells stories of the sea, the people and nostalgia (saudade). The emotion of the voice, accompanied by the classical guitar and Portuguese guitar, so charmed UNESCO that it declared the Fado to be Intangible Cultural...more

It's one show per day at 6 pm apart from Monday. Compared to the Fado of Lisbon, Fado of Madeira is more lively. Also unlike other places there is no food nor drinks served. It's a small auditorium to enjoy Fado.
Don't listen to Terry H, who obviously did not read up on Fado! This is not only a wonderful show with the best musicians and vocalists in Funchal, and a great bargain to boot, it is also a great Fado experience!

Don't know why they don't promote this show a little more or drop their prices to get more people in.
An extremely talented quartet doing a fantastic Fado taster.
If you're open-minded about your music I'd recommend this. I think they're used to small audiences...More
What a confusing experience. I had booked online before travelling as I wanted to ensure a seat. I need not have bothered as there were only another 6 people in the audience.
The young man on the door dashed in and said we would be...More

Thank you for review.

My wife and I went to this show on Tuesday evening...and not because it was a wet night as we had planned to go anyway !!
It lasts about 50 mins and was excellent but such a shame more people didn't attend. It seems to...More
Went to see this after reading other TripAdvisor reviews. It was really good. I hadn't realised before that Fado was Portuguese folk music. It needs to be better publicised though as there were only 4 in the audience.
Really enjoyed this, the musicians - players and singers did a great job. We even got to join in! - Small audience, this performance deserves to be seen by lots and lots of visitors and maybe locals too. Do go along, very welcoming front of...More
The show consisted of a "mandolin" or Portuguese guitar player, a guitarist, a male and a lady singer. All were very talented and performed well. It was entertaining and Fado Live was an experience for 50 minutes. But with such a small audience it fell...More
Got a private show, was a bit awkward but worth it. The guitarists were magnificent and the female singer too. 18:00 pm, it was good to go and support local culture, and a nice way to get to know Fado outside of youtube.
