Although it only cost 1 euro entrance fee it was worth a visit. The museum only covers 2 floors but has an interesting display of old paintings and some statues. The building itself is rather impressing with a huge white wide curved staircase leading to the upper floor.

I was really, really impressed. I happened to turn up when there were some great exhibitions, plus evening concerts. But please give it a go regardless. Easily overlooked, as its not in the historical quarter, but very accessible (near the tram stop) and at 1 euro and open till 20.00 pm its such good value! the staff too are absolutely... More

If you are going to Sintra by Train after you have seen the national place and the Pena. make sure you go back to the town and through the pedesstrain street to the modern art gallery. Its free and well worth seeing. small , but with some good pieces and the... More

I've been there 2 years ago and enjoy the expositions at the time as I'm very interested in paintings and some modern art.

The Museum of Modern Art in Sintra is one of the less visited (tourist) attractions in town. This is a shame. The expositions feature established Portuguese modern artists (both sculptures and paintings) and some more experimental works by those up-and-coming. The staff is committed to the museum's success, which it rightly deserves judging by the museum's state of the art... More

this Museum has gathered together, under the roof of an interesting building, a permanent collection of international modern and contemporary art, the Bernardo Collection, a fascinating panorama of European / American works of the 20th century. It represents the major movements, and school of artistic research, illustrated by works essential to an understanding of the history of international art. Tours... More

Lovely building but the very very modern art is really a bit strange -blank screens to bondage- and not my cup of tea. The pre-1960 modern art is certainly more pleasing with exhibits of Warhol, Dali and Picasso et al.

Some interesting pieces and some very weird. Some well know artists such as Andy Warhol, Dali and Picasso. Ranges from art, photographs, sculpture and installations. Our two teenage boys also enjoyed, and it's free. Recommended.

The former Sintra Museum of Modern Art, which held the Berardo collection (now at CCB, Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon) has indeed chenged its name to MU.SA - Museu das Artes de Sintra. This museum has re-opened its doors, after being closed for about seven years, in the late month of May, the 17th, this time to expose part of... More
