Absolutely awesome views. The place has a large area including the palace and gardens so there are lots of walking and sight seeing. Palace itself is very nice with lots of different details and interesting history. You have to wear proper footwear however they do have hop on busses. We left amazed with this place!

This is a "must see" for anyone who enjoys culture & history. However, a major warning...WALKING IS A MUST...& much of it is uphill & down. Stairs and cobblestone walks are also a concern for those with mobility problems. However the views are spectacular & well worth the effort. The unique wall tiles are captivating. The combination of Moorish &... More

Gardens were ok, but the palace was the worst thing I've visited for a while. Stay in Lisbon, buy the post card. Looks better with your eyes closed.

Perfect place for people who like the natural areas and similar places but I strongly recommend to go very early. Queues are extremelly long, specially in peak seasons and the time you need will be increased. I recommend to book a tour including the Pena Palace with some other village or Portuguese destination such as Cascais, that way you will... More

Leave your car down around Calcada Oena and Calcada Penevala - there is big parking. Then app. 20-25 min walk up - quite steep. You can try to drive closer but only early morning I guess, I did not try (app.11am) and was happy as there was very crowded, no space at all. You will land in a queue to... More

Everyone comes here for the palace, which is OK. I found that it was packed with tourists, and you're funneled through the building on the tour route, with a load of tourists coming up behind you, leaving you no time to stop ant enjoy the place. There isn't that much to see in the palace anyway; what really stands out... More

Very weird but cool palace with amazing views, especially of the castle. It was a bit too fun of tourists but still enjoyable and well worth a visit. The best part of the palace is the grounds, with lots of grottos and different sections to explore.

On our day trip to Sintra, this was our final stop, after visiting the National Palace of Sintra down in the town, and the Moorish Castle. We cheated by using the little transit bus to reach the palace from near the park entrance. Tickets cost 3€ and can be bought at reception or in the gift shop. The park is... More

The grounds at Pena were beautiful d we enjoyed them very much, but .... We visited on a busy Easter weekend. We travelled 40 minutes in by train from Lisbon (an easy journey) then used the hop on off bus up to Pena. The roads were packed and it took 45 mins instead of the usual 20. Once we got... More

Beautiful Palace & Views. Amazing photo opportunities. Take a small group tour & learn the history of the Castle. Be ready to walk, go up hills & climb stairs. There is a bus from the parking area up to the Castle, worth paying to take it up to the Castle entrance. You will walk and climb plenty once there.
