There are lots of palaces around but the National Palace of Quelez was my favorite. The walking tour is pleasant and easy and the gardens are peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. You can make this a short trip or an afternoon.
This place is walkable from the station, but it's not obvious which which way to turn...worth working out in advance!

Such beautiful gardens and a beautiful palace. They are renovating the gardens now. (When we were there :))Some fountains are out of use because of it. But still it is a beautiful park. There are more than enough parking spaces in front of the palace/park.

Really lovely house and very pretty gardens, including a tiled canal. Extremely quiet, so no queues. Recently renovated botanical gardens.
If you need a taxi at the end just ask where you buy the tickets and they will call one for you. very helpful
The palace is easy to find if you are driving and there is plenty of parking outside. It is pleasingly uncrowded after Sintra. It is being restored which is a huge job so some parts under scaffolding however it is a lovely garden to walk...More
