We visited this museum on October 3rd. You cannot drive your own car to this museum. You have to put your car in a parking lot around the train station and go on foot or by public transport.
This museum gives you some authentic movies about different parts of history. Unfortunately, the VR experience stopped working when it was our turn. The staff tried to fix it by rebooting. He told us we could come back later that day.

This is, probably, one of the best small museums you will ever visit. It is highly interactive, fun and very very interesting. Great for kids as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Who would have thunk it? A great museum dedicated to the media in the middle of a tiny village in Portugal. I have no idea what this museum is doing here or why it’s here but I’m a journalist and I can tell you that it is the real deal.

It has the most up to date exhibits and they are full of information. Frankly, I was shocked by the quality of this museum and I recommend it although I know everyone goes to this tiny town for the palaces.

If you have time or the weather is not cooperating, give it a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The NewsMuseum is unique. In the midst of the age and splendor of Sintra lies this very upscale and hip media museum mimicking the Newseum in Washington, DC.

You will not earn any college credits but the quality of what is there is truly interesting, fun, and respectable. Some very credible interactive displays and lots of fun information. Senior citizen rates apply.

In an era when news and journalism are under threat, this is a fascinating and important museum. In a modern space it presents an historical account of bringing news, hopefully always impartial, to the citizens of countries.

In the windows it shows notable news makers including Pope Francis, Nelson Mandela and the American and Chinese Presidents.

Over a few floors it presents a multitude of exhibits, both domestic and International, on news, media and communications. A great feature is a spiral staircase that features a news occurrence at each turn of the spiral.

From the 1974 Carnation Revolution, the 1966 unveiling of the Tagus bridge through to the Bosnian wars, all are captivatingly covered.

A Gestetner duplicator is on view, with the legend that it was one of the symbols of press freedom.

Also shown is a vinyl record player and an array of TV cameras. A poster illustrates the 1960 American Presidential candidates, Kennedy and Nixon; the first television election.

Sintra is known for palaces and gardens, but this place is worth a visit too if you've got an extra hour or so. It's an interesting and interactive museum with exhibits on four levels. You can play a quiz game to test your news knowledge, test yourself on questions of journalistic ethics, read about news coverage of tragedies/war/sports, and look at a huge tower of TV screens streaming live coverage from around the world. There's plenty of info in English. If you work in journalism, you get in for half price. :)

I went to Sintra with my friend and partner for the day and we came across a sign for the Macho Media Exhibition at the News Museum. We decided to go to the museum for the Exhibition because it sounded great. The museum as a whole was very cool (shoutout to the virtual reality part) but we were definitely disappointed by the Macho Media Exhibition. We got the impression that the Exhibition would feature women in media and/or sexism against women in the media but discovered it was solely a five minute video about random parts of women's history and leaders. We also couldn't find the Exhibition at first because the screens switched off between the women's exhibition video and another video about war and dictators. Anyways, we recommend going to the museum because it's a great find in this city but we left the museum feeling disappointed, misled, and slightly offended (as women) that this seemingly large exhibition was just a short video that attempted to do a long timeline of women's history.

P.s. The video wasn't even narrated by a lady.

Went there with my wife today (07-09-2016). We simply lived it and lived it
We were there for 3 hours and we wanted to stay more, but they had to close. Maybe we'll go there tomorrow, again. 😃
From recording your own news as a repórter to YouTube, to your own radio show, and virtual reality show... Best laugh in Sintra. Awesome. A very interactive museum, unlike all others.
We recommend this museum to everyone.

Stumbled upon this - just around corner from main Sintra square. Even my museum hating husband and 15 year old liked it. Very interactive and thoughtprovoking. Much about the power of propaganda.
We benefitted from being the only visitors so could use the VR headset, do the mock up TV interview, open the licker door bit, do the quiz etc very easily.
