Tiene tantas atracciones y para tantos gustos, que no se deja de admirar sea de día con la mezcla de colores de la naturaleza o de noche con las luces del puerto y sus botes.

It has so many attractions and for so many tastes, that you can not fail to admire either by day with the mixture of colors of nature or at night with the lights of the port and its boats. You have to know Setúbal.

A gorgeous bay which is both a great place to relax and a busy working environment. We stayed in the hills above Setubal and enjoyed wonderful views of the vessels criss crossing the bay, everything from fishing boats and ferries to luxury yachts and bulk carriers. Setubal is a lively but laid back town with a bustling fish market area, intriguing old town and plenty of good places to eat and drink. Across the bay there's manicured modern development in Troia, with wide and empty beaches nearby. One of the highlights of our stay was a morning catamaran cruise to spot dolphin, easily arranged near the docks or book online (Vertigem Azul).

Very nice place, mountain and sea, Sado River and its dalphins! We can enjoy sun, but also the peace of such beautiful places or cross the river to Trois beach.
Restaurants have good fresh fish.

Setúbal certainly looks beautiful and with the breathtaking bay, where the lush green Arrábida meets the sea, and resident dolphins there is a lot to see and do with young kids. However, there is currently a major dredging of the river underway, which aims to improve access to the port of Setúbal. This will have a negative environmental impact on the city's famous river and beaches. Beginning in December 2019 the river is being dredged, while the poor resident bottle nosed dolphins are close by. Who knows what effect this will have on the River Sado, home not only to the dolphins but to a diverse range of sealife. Local residents and environmentalists have tried to fight against money focused business groups, but unfortunately their calls to stop the dredging have fallen on deaf ears. So if you were planning to visit this city you might want to give it a miss as its natural beauty is sadly being destroyed as we speak and the famous resident dolphins may soon be no more.

Setúbal is member since 2002 to the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World. Be sure to appreciate the beauty of this bay from different perspectives: from Tróis across the river; from Arrábida directly and from Forte de São Filipe, all of them with privileged points of view to the Setúbal bay. And there is an extra feature: wild dolphins in the Sado river. Try to spot them from the beach, from the ferry or take a specific dolphin tour (non-intrusive in the natural environment of the dolphins).

PAck your things and get early in the morning to this paradise.
Covered from the wind you will find an amazing beach. COnsider high traffic on weekends and in summer time, arrive early and make sure to bring sunblock and water. You will find nice chairs and umbrella for only 10 euros, its totally worth to enjoy your beach day.

The Setubal Bay belongs from November of 2002 to the restricted club of the most beautiful bays of the world.
This meaning of this club is trying to promote the change of experiences in between the members and this on a political level of protection, conservation to maintain this bays. To the bay belongs also the amazing view of the Serra de Arrábida. And the bay is also the normal habitat of the “roaz-corvineiro” a European Dolphin Community.
