Between lime stone cliffs and the Atlantic forest lies this amazing narrow and winding road that access some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in mainland Portugal. Turquoise, transparent water and calm seas makes them fabulous,

If leaving Setúbal you begin to climb Serra da Arrábida, a few miles ahead you can choose the road that lead to the beaches ("Praias") or the road that goes over the top of the mountain, this one with amazing views over the coastal line. My advice is to make the round tour so you can enjoy both. If leaving Azeitão, follow the sings that indicates "Serra da Arrábida", just follow the road until you almost reach Setúbal, there are a few places where you can park the car and enjoy the view, then turn right and follow the road that lead to the beaches.

The best and less crowded beaches are "Galapinhos" and "Coelhos", dew to the mountain trail you have to endure to get there. Other beaches with parking nearby are "Figueirinha", "Galápos" and "Portinho da Arrábida".

Take in consideration that between June and September, on weekends the road that access the beaches is only open in the Setúbal / Azeitão way. If you intend to spend a few hours soaking the best is to arrive around 9AM. After 9AM parking is almost impossible.

If having lunch in Setúbal you must eat "Choco Frito" (deep fried cuttlefish) the town specialty. In Azeitão you have some wineries where you can taste and buy the famous "Moscatel de Azeitão" and some pastry shops where you can enjoy a "Torta de Azeitão". Also delicious is the cheese "Queijo de Azeitão", a soft paste cheese made of goats milk.

Enjoy !!!

The Serra Da Arrabida was a stunning drive and I can’t recommend it enough if you’re in the area. Beautiful views over the mountains, Tróia Peninsula & the beaches. Lots of viewpoints along the way.

If you want to feel in peace and close to nature, visit Serra da Arrabida. Traveling by car near the sea is a must-go when in Portugal. Visit Portinho and some of hidden beaches around.

Although it doesn' t have a high altitude, the "Serra da Arrábida" has an extraordinary beauty. It has a perfect combination between the mountains and the sea. Their landscapes are overwhelming. Better than Greek landscapes. You have to visit.

The Serra da Arabida is the located on the border north from the river Sado, so is the highest point of the Serra at 501 meters of altitude with his own climate and flora. The climate is tempered Mediterranean with a rich flora off Mediterranean species as the azinheira, sobreiro, and carvalho.Nice location to drive through and have some stops this to enjoy the spectacular views.

Beautiful place to walk in the nature or even bike. After a walk in the morning you can always come to rest in the afternoon at the beautiful well-known beaches of the reserve.
