While Obidos is close to Lisbon and so an easy day trip, it is not worth the time. It consists of one street - filled with tourist souvenir shops. Walking the street is fairly treacherous... the cobblestones are of course uneven, which become ever more...More

The best way to see Obidos is to go thru the town to the castle using one small road toward the right and return by the road on the left. This is the left road. Lots of souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants. Can really be crowded...More

Nice street to browse and taste the occasional pastey/liqueur. Can be pretty busy in high season but plenty of sidestreets that follow the direction. Cobblestones and small stores in plentiful

THis is the main road into the old town, and leads to the castle and several churches. Nice pleasant cobblestone/tiled small road, with pleasant shops and restaurant/cafes on either side.

This is the main street in town, cobblestone and consistent on colors. It truly is a tourist village. Enjoy the stroll, enjoy the trinkets along the way and enjoy the sunshine.

I loved Obidos! It is a charming place to spend time with your friends and family. We were there just few hours, but I would love to come back and to stay much longer! There are still so many places to visit over there!

Parking in Obidos (7 Replies)
We plan to will visit Obidosfor couple hours on our way to Porto. Is there any public parking close to center, someplace where we can park and walk with 2 small kids to Rua Direita? And by the way, how much does public parking cost in Portugal? Thank you.

When you follow the road from the A8 it takes you up to Obidos. Directly in front of the entrance gate and walls there is a pay and display car park. I think it's around 2 or 3 euro for a couple of hours. You can then walk through the gate into Obidos itself in 2 minutes.
