A replica of a village and more than that a replica of different roles, functions and places in a village. It is free, offers access to a bakery, a pottery shop and restroom. Nice place

Do not miss this surprising journey into the local past, the passion of a live which drove Jose Franco into the creation of this old mini village, focusing on each old trade like the baker in his backery, the teacher in his school, the grocer and so on. A sense of historical details which brings you almost 100 years backward. By the way, do not forget to taste the fantastic bread they produced on week-ends ! Just warm from the oven !

What a wonderful way to go back in time and experience life as it was at times go by, excellent demonstration of the different trades as they were, a nice entertainment area for the kids, while the parents enjoy a refreshing drink in the nice bar, before adventure through the hundreds of pottery to choose from, well worth a visit

This place has the collection of pretty much anything that José Franco put his hands on. He was, apparently, a well known potter but this "village" was his true heritage. Worth a visit for young and old. (Don't forget to visit the ceramics shop. Really nice things at very reasonable prices)

You can see this typical place in less than an hour. It's good for a visit with children under 6. It has souvenirs of Portugal.

Everyone who wants to understand the rural areas of Lisbon and Mafra should visit Jose Franco's exhibition. In the beginning, this was just the workplace for Mr. Franco and where he tried to see his handcrafted pottery to weekend drivers going to the beaches. Today, it is also a place where we can appreciate the strong work ethics of the artist and his family over many decades.

A small aldeia (village) showing how people of Portugal lived years ago informative, educational and interesting. A traditional restaurant and taverna as well as displays of how people lived in the old days. Well worth a visit, free entry and things to buy at a reasonable price.

Jose Franco is a renowned Portuguese artist and this is a public open air exhibition / playground.

It’s free to enter so you shouldn’t compare it with something that has an entrance fee but if you think of it as a big playground with some historical and Portuguese cultural heritage you have the right expectation.

I used to go here similar to going to Lego land when living in the country as a kid and living close by (Lissabon/Estoril). We visited now when visiting Portugal with our kids and the kids loved it. We stayed 30 minuets but could easily have stayed longer.

Also great if you’re looking for authentic Portuguese pottery. This is where to get it!
