This nineteenth-century park, which Queen Dona Maria II loved to frequent, is located right in front of the Basilica da Estrela. Of fair size, with entrances on all sides, it is very shady due to the presence of many tall trees; it is crossed by wide and sinuous avenues in cemented grit, with many benches, drinking fountains, many statues, two lakes, two kiosk bars, a 19th century iron pavilion for concerts, bathrooms, a large play area for children, gymnastic equipment . The latter actually appear congruent with the sporting vocation that I detected, given the numerous people I met doing gymnastics, not just running (after all, our visit took place quite early: just after 9am). But the characteristic that most favorably struck me was the extreme variety and quality of the tree species present, even exotic ones, so much so that I felt like I was in a botanical garden instead of a normal public park. Generally I also found it well looked after, although there were a few corners that required more attention. A beautiful green lung in the middle of an urban area and easily accessible.

I was on a European cruise August 22 with my partner, his sister and her family and our third stop was Lisbon. We explored some of the area and after quite a bit of a walk found this nice little park, it was such hot day but it wasn’t too busy. There’s a cafe that we didn’t use but we did sit and order from the small kiosk. Coffee was ok but could’ve been better but we got some lovely Portuguese egg custards. There’s a small play area of a climbing frame, benches, a lake and also public toilets. Lots of bird life about the place. A nice little park.

Our first day in Lisbon we just walked the streets and found this nice park known also as Jardim Guerra Junqueiro full of trees, flowers, benches and lots of relaxing people but not overcrowded. There are several entries - from Praca da Estrela just opposite the church, from Ave Alvares Cabral, from Rua da Estrela and from Rua de Sao Bernardo. We spent there about hour just enjoying the walk through it. There ae also some cafes, public toilets etc.

This lovely park is on the tram 28 route...we spotted it on the way to the end/start of the route. It looked lovely from the outside so we hopped off and had a wander around. It was packed full of local families enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon. There are a couple of cafés to stop at and watch locals enjoying life, and a large variety of trees and plants for those interested.
If you fancy a bit of green when in Lisbon, head up here.

We come here often when we want to relax and take in the life around us. The grounds are lovely there is always something in bloom. This is a smaller urban park that is designed for relaxing and take in fellow park goers.
The cathedral and the British Cemetery are nearby if you want to see sights, but why not have another coffee and just watch the world for a bit?

This is my favorite park in Lisbon because the landscaping is so lush. Lots of very big trees, great on a sunny warm day. Some nice flower plantings, plenty of places to sit, and it is very popular. Located in a great neighborhood.

Jardim da estrela is located in Estrela, right in front of the basilica. The gardens are taken care of, with a cafe inside. The grass is clean and you can relax well.

To pass time before or after visiting Estrela Basilica or waiting for the #28 tram at the Basilica stop, stroll through this English-style garden and enjoy the sounds of songbirds that make the exotic trees and plants their home. Tip: The Basilica stop is near the beginning of the eastbound #28 tram so you can often snag a seat for a ride past many of Lisbon’s highlights here.

This is one of the most lovely of Lisbon's many parks. It is shaded by many very old trees and on hot days one can immediately feel a drop in temperature as one steps into its welcoming coolness. This park is a very popular place for picnics on its green lawns. There are cafes for a post-picnic espresso. The glorious smell of the many flowering trees and shrubs in summer is exquisite. A truly wonderful haven of peace , coolness, and tranquility!

We stayed in an apartment just near to this park. It is right by the Basilica. Metro station nearest to here is RATO or you can get the 28 tram which passes by. A lovely little park with some nice old trees. a peaceful place where people sit and chat or watch the world go by. There is a pretty bandstand where music is played at the weekends in the evening. Good café with lots of outside seating. Pond. Shoe polishing available at the gate opposite the Basilica! A really pleasant place to stop and pass some time.
