If you lover mercados, go here instead of crowded Time Put Lisbon
A great mercado experience. Far smaller than Time Out Lisbon, but also provides a far better experience. Take note that most shops close on Sundays. I enjoyed the seafood and steak stalls the most (sorry I forgot the names) An added treat: there’s a cemetery close by and a beautiful church right across it. Walk around in the area after you’ve had your feast.

    Local Market
We love visiting markets and this is a lovely local market. Unfortunately during our weekday visit in February there was a lot of construction going on inside which is to be expected in off season. We can’t wait to return ! This is what markets are supposed to be like unlike the tourist attraction that’s claiming to be a market.

    Do enjoy a few oysters!!
I arrived a bit too late for the market hussle, a bit too soon for lunch. I waited a bit while having an iced coffee and after making my round I sat down at the oysterbar. Lovely man with lots of knowledge, open and welcoming. Do go there as he’s lovely (I ended up sitting there a long time) and more importantly: the oysters are amazing!!

    Nice variety
This market has a quite eclectic selection of foods. To put it in perspective- I had a Philly Cheese steak, my wife had a Hummus Bowl from a different stall, and my daughter had a Japanese Poke Bowl from yet another stall. I'd guess there are roughly 50-60 stalls in all with offerings from all over the world.

    Brilliant food and atmosphere
Beautiful evening on a Saturday night - lovely food choices, full of locals, live music and comfortable seating. Had sangria, bachalau, croquettes, tomato rice, olives for €30 and the atmosphere was 10/10. 100 times better than the Time Out market

Lovely local's alternative to Time Out market
We were recommended this venue by our tuktuk driver. It's a local's & family friendly alternative to Time Out. It is much smaller & not a late night venue - only open until 10pm on Friday night. However, the food was delicious, & the atmosphere friendly & relaxed. However, there aren't lots of bars etc nearby, unlike the area around Time Out; and finding a taxi nearby to take us back to our hotel was quite challenging!

    Excellent
I thoroughly enjoyed this place, which is smaller and more intimate compared to Time Out Market. It has a unique and eclectic atmosphere with a limited number of food stands and a single bar that caters to all visitors. The crowd primarily consists of locals, with only a few tourists who arrive after their tram ride. The screens showcase football matches, creating a lively atmosphere, and I appreciated the polite demeanor of everyone present. Overall, I found it to be a highly enjoyable experience.

Went for lunch after reading reviews of the good food court there. Saw the stall with the longest ques was the Portugese stall selling seafood and pasta. We ordered mussels, clams, tried to order different types of empanadas but all sold out except the chicken. also ordered a soup of the day ( pumpkin). Everything was delicious, could really taste the wine and butter in the clams. Service was good even though they were really busy. had to wait 40 mins while he cooked but worth the wait. would recommend.

This market is much smaller than the Time Out Mercado. It still has produce, fish, etc. in the mornings and the food stalls that can supply you wonderful meals, but it’s a manageable size. It was very busy the evening of December 30, 2019, but we were still able to get a lovely wine and cheese/ham platter that was perfect for an early evening meal.

When you walk in you’re in a fish market. But keep going until you come to the lunch area.
Lots of options. We had delicious Lebanese falafels in pitta bread. Also a stall selling freshly squeezed juice.
We had been to Time Out market the day before which was loud and touristy and had mediocre food.
But this place is the real deal.

We stopped at this neighborhood market as part of a "Flavors of Lisbon" tour with Viking River Cruises. It was one of 3 stops where we sampled local food and drink. At this stop we had local beer and tapas.

Market stands (food mostly) but some boutiques too and a really good selection of hot food stands with a nice central eating area. IMO 100% better than the Timeout Mkt cattle crush /accoustic hell (just IMO!) plus several vegan/plant based booths. V worthwhile.
