Neighborhood: Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Don't recommend this shop. Similar products can be purchased for a 2-3 times lower price in a product store 20 meters away. I can't understand how can they fool tourists in such a way. Totally unfair. They don't even accept the return.

Very cool canned fish shop close to the water. My husband was like a kid in a candy shop, we bought a little everything. A fun place to shop if you like canned seafood, or even to look around and learn a little about the diversity of the canned seafood.

Go here and learn about the industry and the companies involved but don’t buy here! This place is a tourist trap when you can go just a couple of store fronts down and find the very same things for a fraction of the price! Just so you know.....

Went inside to take a look and one lady asked which language we speak. My boyfriend said Spanish, so she offered us to taste some toasts speaking Spanish to us.
I choose to buy a package with 4 sorts of canned fish as a gift for someone. Once at the register my boyfriend spoke spanish again and this other, younger woman, told us in a really arrogant way to speak English. Okay so I did, I asked her if she had some kind of wrapping paper. She showed me a piece, I said its okay and she replied: this will do nothing for you and she put it away. Very weird..
Having read te reviews about the problems at the airport i knew not to put the fish in our carry on luggage. So I asked a second question, if its okay to put it in our luggage without some kind of wrapping paper around it in case it would leak or something since the luggage gets thrown around at the airport.
Again she replied to me in a very arrogant way saying: we dont have that. And tin doesnt break.
I told her I was just asking because i didnt know for sure. She bent over and said very close to my face: you do know you are buying canned fish. We were actually shocked by her blatent arrogance.
She made us feel bad for asking simple questions. Obviously i know the package wouldnt break in half but having travelled alot we sure have had some surprises in case of tin cans leaking...
So i just stopped replying, payed for my stuff and left the place.
Such a bummer on our last day because we found the Portuguese to be very lovely and kind people. I know theres a language barrier but for someone who demanded we speak English she obviously didnt or wouldnt understand my questions and made me feel stupid.
To finish i agree with some other reviews, there are other little authentic shops where you can buy the same things for a better price, and definitly with some better service.

After looking around in this beautiful store, the stuff present told us that there was no problem to carry these cans in the plane so we decided to take a couple with us.
We were stopped in the airport control and the police took the cans away. We felt very disappointed because the food will be thrown away and very mad to the assistant because they lied to us

Canned fish store in downtown Lisbon, variety of canned fish that Portugal is famous for. Tins are colorful and decorative, prices reasonable (better than all the "gift" shops). Make great gifts. Friendly and helpful staff, easy to get to.

You just can't miss this place!!! Absolutely beautiful and delicious!!! It makes great gift boxes!! On tuesdays and wednesdays they hold tasting events. Too bad we will no longer be on the city, but I thought it would be a great tip for fellow travellers.

We wandered in curious about the various canned fish and were given a thorough eduction by André. He is very knowledgable about the various fish and producers featured in the store. I'm certain we will be back for more sardines before we leave Lisbon!!

Cool small place where you could see (and buy) all the famous Portuguese fish conserve brands: sardines, mackerels, tuna with different sauces and spices. Genuine old equipment, retro package materials. Our best souvenirs came from this shop.
