Portuguese Cooking

Highly recommend! We learned how to cook some authentic Portuguese recipes, and had a very enjoyable evening sampling the results and chatting with our classmates.

I agree with other reviews that this is not an in-depth evening. Participants work together to prepare different elements of the meal which means sometimes you can end up watching instead of cooking. However it is a fun evening where you get to chat with other travelers, drink wine and are exposed to some elements of traditional Portuguese cuisine. The... More

My family and I had a fabulous time. They were extremely kind. We even had a mix-up on the date and they accommodated us. The food was delicious. They gave great recommendations for the our next stop in Portugal. I would have liked a cooking book when we left. They emailed us the recipes that we cooked plus a couple.... More

The dinner class we took at Cooking Lisbon wasn’t the most engaging course I’ve taken, but it was still enjoyable. Our instructor seemed to constantly be stretching for tasks for everyone to help with, so we all spent considerable time making conversation and drinking wine (no complaints - but just want to set the right expectations!). Perhaps this could be... More

Gonçalos was an excellent host who made us feel comfortable and introduced us to some traditional Portuguese recipes. A great way to spend a night in Lisbon in a friendly atmosphere and pick up on some local culture.

My friend and I took this class. The instructor was fantastic, the venue was easy to get to, and the pastries we made were the best we tasted during our 6 days in Lisbon. The only improvement I can think of was to have them print out the recipes for us ahead of class time so that we could take... More

We signed up for the market tour and cooking class the Tuesday after Christmas What a great time. The market tour it self was worth the price of admission. We where able to learn about some foods that we don't even see in our part of the USA. To then be able to cook and eat the items with Chef... More

We had a great time as Concelo and Fernanda showed us how to make Bacalua (cod fish), oven baked chicken and merengue and custard. There were 9 people in our session so the workload was easily spread and there was time for cooking and watching. Wine is included, plus a great introduction to the local olive oil varieties and tastings.... More

I did two classes with Cooking Lisbon, and both were great! The first was their pastry class, and we learned how to make the staple of Lisbon pastry shops: the pastel de Nata and queque, kind of like a muffin but fluffier/lighter. Chef Ana and co-owner Filipe were delightful companions and cultural ambassadors as we went through the process and then... More
