About
Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião assembles the great themes of the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, of the city of Lisbon, and of the world. Visiting the Museum allows visitors to get to know and remember the trophies, the facts, and the names that helped Sport Lisboa e Benfica become a world-class sports club. Founded in 2013, this cultural site took the name of one of the most important figures in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica: Cosme Damião, known as the founding father of the Club. Across an area of about four hundred square metres, and three floors, the Museum displays around a thousand objects in 29 theme areas presenting high standards of interactivity and technology while telling the history of a country’s passion. Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião also offers a great diversity of programmes, which provides new and enriching experiences for everyone who wishes to participate.

This museum has a lot of extensive research on the formation of Benfica and how the club developed overtime.

Loved the part that accompanied history in the world with the club itself. Giving it a more concrete place in history.

A few interactive fun moments in the museum as well.

What was missing for me was the club in the last 20 years. Not a lot of “recent” information.

My family consists of two football mad teenage boys myself and my long suffering wife. We have been on many European stadium / Museum tours and although not as large as say Barcelona, this actually works in it's favour.
The stadium is located right next to a metro station so is simple to get to and from. We bought a combined stadium and museum family ticket which is the best way of experiencing what Benfica is all about. Our guide in the stadium spoke perfect English and made the tour lots of fun. The groups are small allowing plenty of time to take pictures and just sit in the stands or admire the Bald Eagles which are part of the History of the Club. You can have your picture taken with them in the Mega store located next door.
The Museum is breathtaking and has interactive activities including a penalty shoot out, hands on the cup plus films and a 3D light show in a lift !!!! ( Trust me it's great ).
It doesn't matter if your not really into football this combined experience is a top attraction in Lisbon and comes highly recommended...Please give me a thumbs up if you found me review helpful. Thanks Paul

Purchased direct from the stadium a great value ticket for stadium tour and the museum, both were brilliant. The museum is modern, spotlessly clean and really well thought through, so ardent fan or not it will be a good experience. Who new they won so many trophies - there are so many, but they are presented such that you will not be bored of seeing them. Take the 5 minute lift video experience (included in the ticket) and we guarantee that you will feel the match day emotion. Club history is explained in a really interesting way and there is just so much to see.
This is a great museum and we highly recommend a visit ..... even if you are not a football fan you will enjoy it.

Went with my so who is a fan of the game. One of the best expositions I have seen in which the tradition of the game is combined with the history of Portugal and the world events of the last century .
Never expected a soccer museum to be such an enjoyable experience for someone who is not a fan of the game .

But we still wanted to give it a chance. Wish we had stayed at home. The tour guide had no interest in what he was doing whatsoever. We didn't hear most of what was going on because we couldn’t walk as quick as him. Our children who all play in football clubs back home were extremely disappointed. Maybe we were just unlucky with our tour guide. Either way, it was such a shame

Spent a couple of hours visiting the stadium and museum, wow! The museum is packed with hundreds of trophies won by the sports club, in football, rugby, hockey, cycling and so many more sports! Also there is a floor with a lot of football memorabilia from past players, including a great section on Eusebio. Followed that with a tour of the stadium (for tickets buy either in the Benefica shop, or using the machines just outside the shop (which can offer a discount...) The shop is situated in the building by gate 17 (which is where the tour is run from). The stadium itself is great, got to see 1 of the 5 changing rooms (not the home one) press room, tunnel walk and views from different levels. All in all a well worth it trip. Stadium is not far from a Metro stop.

Huge fan, so enjoyed the stadium and museum tour. Self-guided but well explained. Note: Be sure to read the instructions on your Trip Advisor coupon carefully on how to obtain your entry tickets to save time.

Fifteen Euros and worth every penny for the football fan visiting Lisbon. But you must go to Estádio Restelo in Belém, home to FC Belenenses and free and a beautiful little ground overlooking the river. The Benfica tour can be done at your own pace. We found the app we were encouraged to download hopeless but the guides at specific points are very knowledgeable and good fun. There’s a tour of the stadium, away not home dressing room and pitch side next to the club mascot eagle! The interactive stuff is fun and then it’s the club museum. You could spend hours here delving into their forensic history of one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Europe. It’s brilliantly done although some of the modern media stuff is pointless and a waste of valuable time for those with an eye on the clock. The Eusébio section is fascinating and kept me occupied but I’d love to do the whole thing properly although you’d need a week. Sadly the restaurant overlooking the pitch was closed.

We had a tour round the stadium and museum. It was great. We finished off the tour by having a lovely lunch overlooking the pitch. All in all a great visit.

We did the stadium tour first, followed by the Museum. The stadium tour lasted about 45 minutes including visiting the away changing room, press room, a complete circular walk around the stadium both from the seating area and around the pitch. Seeing the three Eagles up close was memorable. Plenty of opportunity for photographs. The guide was multi linqual and answered the various questions from the six of us in the group.
The museum was on three floors of a modern building. The different staff on each level spoke excellent English and were very informative. There were numerous exhibits on each floor, including videos, one of which was in an adjoining theatre and was well worth watching. The penalty taking simulator was good fun. We spent about two hours in the Museum and thought it was worth the entrance fee.
The combined museum and stadium tour is cheaper than paying for the two individually. Concessions are for children, persons over 65years and family. We purchased our tickets on the day of the visit.
It is advisable to purchase items from the shop after having paid for the stadium/museum tours, as it provided a discount on goods purchased with proof of already having paid for the tours.
We travelled by Metro to Colégio Militar/Luz, then a short walk by crossing the road, turning left and walking through a car park to a tunnel under the motorway, then turning right to walk around the stadium to the shop area which also houses cafes and toilets.
Overall, a very enjoyable trip.
