This is a beautiful garden and square in the belém area, one of the most touristic in Lisbon. The Jardim do Império was made for an exibition during the time of the dictatorship. It still amazes me everytime I see it. It is one of Lisbons landmarks surrounded by more landmarks around it, like the Centro Cultural de Belém, Mosteiro... More

A good spot to stop bye an enjoy of your picknick. But I 'll not go to that jardim for a "Wauw" effect, there are better ones.

Iconic square depicting symbols of the age of discoveries framed by impressive monuments, museums, galleries, coffeehouses, and miles of a sidewalk along the river

Between the Monterio and the Monument of the Discoveries these precisely laid out gardens make an excellent place to chill out while visiting the other local attractions.

If you're walking around Belém, it's impossible to miss this garden as it is in the center of all the major attractions. It's a wonderful place to rest from your walk for a while.

It is so green, nice and if you have kids, they can play, run around there. There are a lot of spots for taking nice pictures.

The kids can run and play here on a playground while the parents go for a stroll or enjoy a drink at the restaurants nearby.

Very nice garden, great for a break during the visit to Belém or to eat a "Pastel de Belém". The garden is located between the Cultural Center of Belém and the Monastery of Jerónimos. In the garden there is the huge fountain that must be seen. Free parking during the weekend is not easy.

Staying in Belem

Neighborhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
