Neighborhood: Graça & São Vicente
You can be thankful that most common travel guides don't mention Graça and São Vicente that often. Part of Lisbon's historic center and "Old Town", they feel like independent villages in the capital's center, and more untouched than Alfama. Amazing views, restaurants and parks, as well as important monuments like the S. Vicente Church and the National Pantheon, make this a spectacular option for those looking for a more tranquil walk-around in the center of Lisbon. Graça has been the choice of many younger people over the past years, both nationals and expats, given the cozy feeling of the neighborhood and its hidden secrets.

The Miradouro da Graca viewpoint is one of the most popular viewpoints in Lisbon. This viewpoint is located on the border Graca and Alfama districts. It is a popular meeting place for students, young people and couples in love, all thanks to its view of Lisbon's historic center, the Baixa district and the Tagus River. At the Miradouro de Graca , you can find a kiosk serving hot and cold drinks, and a dozen tables and benches, all surrounded by trees that cast shade .There is also the imposing church of Igreja da Graca here. A great place for any traveler. At the same time, after getting there, you can admire the beautiful views as well as regenerate before further walks. It is worth taking photos here, to make the memories stay longer. Beautiful place. Although it is popularly called the Graca viewpoint - Miradouro da Graca - its official name is Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. It is named after the famous Portuguese writer.

This overlook was about a twenty minute walk from our hotel in the Alfama neighborhood. The climb is grueling, but some in our party were in their sixties, and made it up. The view from the top is wonderful, even at night. Had it not been so chilly, I could have stayed for a while.

The view of Lisbon is very good but what we liked best was the open air café and beautiful church and square nearby. Highly recommend a visit to watch the sunset. It’s an easy downhill walk from the highest viewpoint at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte which was excellent.

This is a place where you'll get a nice place over the city. Go there during the day or at night, the view will be completly different. In my eyes, you should rather visit this place than the castle: the entrance is free and the view is almost the same!

Pleas be careful walking up here! We were almost the victims of something, we're not quite sure what but there was definitely a guy following us up the stairs and a guy at the top of the stairs who luckily my partner spotted gesturing down to the guy following us so we turned around. What is even more worrying is another guy further back up the street from where we came is also gesturing, on look out probably.

Happened on Rua dos Lagares, we attempted to walk up the stairs half way up this street to make our way to this viewing platform. Please be careful and go the busiest, most direct route.

Miradoura de Graça offers visitors stunning views of the wonderfully historic city of Lisbon that are unrivaled by other overlooks. Lovers of all ages, photographers, and historians alike will enjoy the unique experience provided by Miradoura de Graça. For starters, the overlook provides 180 degree panoramic views of the city itself, including the Carmo Church Ruins (Igreja do Carmo), the Castle of Saint George (Castelo de São Jorge) and even the 25th of April Bridge, which is Lisbon's version of the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The views by day are stunning, but by night they are simply breathtaking.

A lovely café, located just atop this beautiful vista, provides refreshments and beverages for the weary traveler. For the slightly more adventuresome, there are a number of local cafés within the immediate vicinity that provide authentic dining experiences that are not easily forgotten. Lisbon has some of the best food and service in the world, so don't miss the opportunity to experience it firsthand. Portuguese food is a treat that is a joy unto itself.

For photographers, the best time to visit is during the late afternoon until an hour past sunset. Bring your tripod and brush up on your long-exposure techniques. The best images can be taken just after sunset when the lights of the city become visible and the sky turns sapphire blue. To catch sunstars from all the lights, set your F-Stop to F16 or F11 and use a long exposure of at least 30 seconds. For best results, consult your camera owner's manual.

For lovers, come early in the day and enjoy a nice lunch at the café or grab a bite at any of the local delis. If you really want to get into the spirit of things though, pack a picnic lunch and bring your favorite bottle of wine. If you prefer, Beer and wine are also available at the café kiosk. Then, sit back and take in the wonderful views together. This is an ideal venue for one-of-a-kind couples photos, and together you can leisurely explore the adjacent pocket park, or the Igreja da Graça – a beautiful 18th century church. Of course, you will want to stick around for sunset, which can be stunning from this vantage point and is also best time to experience the views together.

Miradoura de Graça offers the best vantage point in the city to see and understand how all the districts fit together. Regardless of what type of traveler you are, you will not want to miss out on one of the best attractions in all of Lisbon. The best part? This unforgettable overlook and the astonishing views it affords are free, proving that the best things in life don't have to cost money. So, as you plan your Lisbon adventure, be sure to include a visit to Miradoura de Graça; you will not be disappointed.

Take Tram 12 and avoid the queue for 'iconic' Tram 28 - they take the same route up to Alfama.... and it is worth getting up there.

We were staying not far from here so it was the first stop on every wander. Fantastic views over Lisbon (you can see right to the ponte 25 abril (bridge)) Get there before the sun starts going down and watch the sunset from here. There's plenty of tables for drinks and you are right next to the church. Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Then the walk down the hill takes you to the Sé cathedral.

Beautiful place to enjoy views of the city without it being crowded with people. I visited it during the morning and it was great, but I do recommend having good shoes or taking public transport because it is a steep walk to get there. Worth it though

Nice place to have a great view of Lisbon. There’s a bar so you can have a coffee or some food too and the neighborhood is amazing.
