We are a family of 4 including 2 girls aged 12 and 10. We are well travelled and we usually plan and organise everything ourselves, transport, lodging and attractions. We use Travel Blogs a lot for ideas. We spent a full day in Sintra and had planned to visit Palacio Nacional da Pena, Castle of the Moors and Quinta da Regaleira. During the planning phase we realised Sintra could be complicated, the 3 attractions are dispersed over the area, private car circulation is prohibited or limited, parking is a nightmare near the attractions, connections between the various places of interest are not obvious at all and we knew there would be loads of people wanting to do the same thing at the same time. So we decided to use the services of a private guide and Alex from Top Ten Tours was warmly recommended to us by the owner of the apartment where we were staying. Alex was easily reachable via WhatsApp and made us a very reasonably price offer, we consulted other guides or companies we found on the internet and either didn't get a reply or prices that were quoted were a rip-off. Alex made the whole day a real tourist dream. He picked us up early to avoid the crowds and drove us around with a confortable Mercedes van. He guided us through all the places (and from one place to another) with talent and knowledge, Alex knows everything about history and stories, we all had a fascinating day including the kids. There was hardly any queuing as Alex had bought all the tickets beforehand. He stayed with us at least two hours beyond the time originally expected without charging any extra, he just wanted his job done properly and completely. Thank you Alex for a great day.

We would highly recommend using Top Ten Tours!
We had a great day in Sintra on a private full-day tour thanks to Alex. He had us arrive at Pena Palace when it opened and we enjoyed the exterior areas of the palace basically empty - it was so peaceful! He knew all the places to capture the beauty of the ground and mountains in photos. We did not go inside the palace as a part is under renovation, based on Alex's recommendation. We also went to Quinta da Regaleira, which Alex had so many insights and details on how to best explore and unique stories and vantage points to make the most of it. After exploring, we went into the town of Sintra to see the sights, enjoy local shops and artisans, and also had a great lunch overlooking the town and valley recommended by Alex. As a local to Sintra, Alex had vast knowledge and experiences to share.
This tour is personalized, so let them know in advance what you wish to see. You will need to book Pena Palace interior tickets in advance if you wish to go inside.

You know that feeling you get when you are traveling and know that everything is going to go according to plan and perhaps even better than you were hoping for? That is what we have experienced using Top Ten Tours for each of our trips to Lisbon. Our first time in 2015 we went to Sintra and Cascais with Alex and 7 years later had such positive thoughts from that trip we booked them again this past March 2022. The Sintra and Cascais tour were fantastic by the way. This time we booked the Tile tour and winery visit. The private tour started by being picked up at our hotel and our first stop was at a tile making shop where we were shown all the steps and challenges of handmaking beautiful Portugese tile. EVERYTHING was done by hand! We even could have painted our own if we wanted. From there a stop at a small village for some wonderful Delta coffee and a pastry snack that was delicious. The narrative given by Alex about what we were seeing was very informative and appreciated too. After refreshments we heading onto the gorgeous coastal town of Setubal with a scenic stop on the way. Lunch was on our own after Alex walked along with us helping us choose the best spot for lunch. From there we were onto a winery for a tour and tasting. Top Ten Tours offers many different types of tours and you can design your own with their assistance. While their website is a great place to start but reach out to them to tailor your trip to your desires. We also used them for transfers to and from the airport and cruise ship. I feel very strongly that you can book Top Ten Tours with absolute confidence!

We had a private tour with Alex for Sintra. Alex gave us many great facts and he is very knowledgeable.
The drive with him from Lisbon to Sintra and back to Lisbon was great where he shared with us many valuable information
I highly recommend taking a tour with him and I am sure that it also would be great to have him for a tour in Lisbon as well

We chose Alex as our tour guide for a day in Lisbon and we certainly made the right choice. He drove our family of five around the city of Lisbon in his clean and comfortable van, expertly navigating the busy and narrow streets while sharing the history and culture of his beautiful country. If you are looking for a personable and knowledgeable guide, look no further. We will definitely book another day or two with Alex upon our next visit to Portugal as he will customize his tours not only to Lisbon but to other areas that you are interested in visiting.

Working with TopTenTours was the single best decision I made during our stay in Portugal this summer. My husband and I got married last month just outside of Lisbon and before getting there I wanted to arrange transportation during the duration of our stay in Portugal to make travel for our guests as easy as possible.
Initially reaching out I was put in contact with Elisabete who was so diligent in making sure all the arrangements were in order prior to our arrival and so accommodating as numbers of guests fluctuated. She was very organized and over email I felt our big group was in great hands even before our arrival.
In total I believe we arranged 8 separate transfers with TopTenTours to/from the airport, to/from the wedding venue, to/from Algarve, and a day tour to Sintra with tickets and tour guide included. Every single transport was confirmed the night before over text, was on time, pickup locations clear, clean. comfortable, and quality vehicles, and drivers all nice and helpful. We had a big group and numbers varied depending on location and activity, but Elisabete was so accommodating and made every iteration work. She also served as the tour guide for our trip to Sintra and everyone was so grateful to share that day with her.
All in all, TopTenTours and Elisabete herself are the highest quality. Don't hesitate to book with them. You are in the best hands. We will definitely use them again!

We had a private tour with Alex and had an amazing experience! Unfortunately, there was a worker strike the day we had our tour but Alex rearranged everything to make sure it went as smoothly as possible given the circumstances. He turned our 6 hour tour into an 8 hour tour just to make sure we still experienced each place on the itinerary. He was so personable and very knowledgeable about everything we saw. He really went above and beyond for us. The tour was the highlight of our trip to Portugal! Thank you Alex! We will definitely be recommending Top Ten Tours to our friends.

I booked a trip to Sintra & Cascais with Top Ten Tours and would absolutely book with them again based on Elisabete’s impeccable customer service. She was very responsive, always on a quick turn-around. Unfortunately, my husband got sick and our trip had to be cancelled. Elisabete was gracious and refunded us promptly.

Amazing tour by Alex! He is passionate and highly knowledgeable. He was very punctual and professional. We booked through Get Your Guide, but I highly recommend booking directly with them.
I loved the private experience and Alex knows all the tips and tricks to get you away from crowds. I honestly hate being herded like sheeps on big group tours so this was perfect for my family and I and it was at our own pace. Their prices are ridiculously reasonable. We paid almost double for a private tour in Italy.
Don't think, this is a MUST BOOK.

Top Ten Tours & Transfers
Tour name: Lisbon Atmosphere Tour
We had used Top Ten Tours once before when we were on a cruise in 2016 and we used them again this past week for a 6 hour tour of Lisbon during our two day stay. On our 6 hour tour we saw all of the key sights and tasted some quick great tasting food and their famous pastries. Alex our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and really made our experience enjoyable. Our son who is a middle school history teacher really enjoyed his time with Alex. We will be in Lisbon on a cruise again in November and have already booked two vans. This is an excellent company and the office staff has excellent communication skills and they are very pleasant and helpful to work with. Reliable, on time, clean vans and great service. from the instruction, you should receive a voucher via email, which is to be exchanged for the real card once you arrive at the airport. good luck.
"Use the booking form on the left to buy the Lisboa Card. Once your purchase is confirmed (usually within minutes) you will receive an email voucher that can be exchanged for your very own Lisboa Card once you hit the city. Exchange offices are located at the Lisboa Welcome Center, Foz Palace and of course Lisboa Airport."

We will be arriving Lisbon April 26, 2017 onboard the Eclipse. My husband and I are looking for a 4-6 hour shore excursion. We have seen the Fatima before so we want to see something different this time. Heard of Sintra and Cascais are these possible tours?

Sintra has different attractions, the most famous is Pena Palace. You can visit the historical center and Pena Palace and pass by Cascais with a stop for a small walk along the bay.
