Neighborhood: Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.

Prepare for a full day. Had a small group of 5 in a comfortable van. Guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable of history- geography - wine and sports! Although difficult to understand - at times. Enjoyed my day as a solo traveler.

I can't add any more to that said by others. Wonderful small shop and delightful service from Joao.
The story I would like to relate concerns the old fashioned values which are to be admired.
I did not have time to pick up my shoes after ordering before we left Lisbon. I had some concerns about ordering good shoes and having them sent to Australia only perhaps to find they did not fit. I am a size 48 ( European ).
Joao said not to worry if they didn't fit send them back. I asked if I could pay. No said Joao. Wait until they arrive and only if I was happy should I pay. If not happy just return them. This would never happen in Sydney today. The shoes were made and in due course were delivered to my local post office. They are beautifully made. They fit well. And they look great. An account was given to me and one EFT later payment was made. When you see trust like this you just want to say thank you for reminding us that there are still people with old fashioned values. More power to them !!

The shop is very small if you compare it to the ones that we're used to in malls. But for me those are the best ones :)
Impeccable service and even better products. Theses handmade shoes are definitely the best i've ever worn.
I bought two pairs, for me and my girlfriend, and even though I wear them everyday they still look like brand new, which speaks a lot for the quality.
Plus, it's located in a small but very beautiful and significant square in Lisbon. Which gives it a very beautiful surrounding. Definitely a place to remember when you're in Lisbon ;)

When you've only 2 days in a capital city you have to be selective..tripadvisor helped hone my plan and this shoe delicacy was definitely a highlight. If you spin around you can almost touch all walls but that's not the half of it!! The summer ballerinas I had in mind appeared in a half size from "the back" and were perfect!! Not the cheapest but beautiful, comfortable and to be gazed at nxt summer with fond memories of beautiful lisbon ...

If you try the shoes you gonna buy them. They are not only gorgeously beautiful, but also truly comfortable. The young lady and the fellow that work there were really sweet and patients with the time it took me to make my choice. I bought two pair of shoes after they offered me a discount. :)

Situated adjacent to the GNR building in Largo do Carmo, this delightful sapataria (shoe shop) may well be minimal in size but it exudes class and value. Family run, the service is always friendly and polite - and extremely helpful. the delicately quaint little shop tastefully displays the shoes in a traditional manner, even down to the elegant shoe boxes stored above the display areas. My other half has become a regular customer now, she makes a beeline for the place as soon as she can when we visit Lisbon. The shoes are not cheap, but you can tell that just by looking at them. Portuguese made, they are extremely comfortable (ok, I have succumbed once too) and look the absolute business. Stylishly presented, delicately packaged and given in a bag that is as classy as the shoes, this place is well worth a visit. In fact it is a must. The Largo outside is great for 'other halves' to imbibe when waiting for the decision of which pair to buy is made. We've taken two friends there, neither could resist - in fact both bought the same style of shoe in different colours! Certainly is shopping with a smile!

I love shoes and have several pairs purchased in Portugal. This was however my first time in this very small but quite a treasure of a shoe shop.i felt like I was back in time and admired all the lovely styles for both men and women.Pedro was very helpful, informative and a delight to share conversation with not only about shoes but life! I ended up with a traditional style that was pure comfort with nice workmanship to enjoy for many years to come.A pleasure to do business and a great resource for future purchases and any repairs. Thanks!

What to buy? Where to begin? These glorious shoes. Beautiful classics recreated with vibrant colour. Love it.
Not only is the shop alive with a love of craftsmanship, but also holds it craftsmen in such high esteem.
Prices are reasonable, and you'll look fabulous to boot.

If you are in Lisbon looking for beautiful handmade shoes for both men and women, do not fail to visit the charming shoe store Sapataria do Carmo, Largo do Carmo 26. The price and quality of these beautiful shoes are highly competitive, there is only one problem TO CHOOSE how many couples. To this should be added that Sapataria do Carmo sends shoes worldwide. The service in the store is exceptional - a service you do not get many places in the world today.
