Gloria was an amazing guide during our first day in Lisbon. She was enthusiastic, kind, and fun! Even on a rainy day, she adapted to the weather and made the tour enjoyable. We learned so much about Lisbon's Jewish history, and present day community. She made the city come alive! I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about the city's history - it was great on our first day so we could get around the city ourselves the remainder of our time there.

In short - brilliant!
We booked the (3hr) "Lisbon Walking Tour" with Lisbon secrets and could not have been more pleased with the experience.
Correspondence with Angela in advance of arrival was prompt, clear and straightforward. (I had a moment's hesitation over the deposit, specifically not being able to receive a receipt, but there was not need to worry).
We expressed a preference for an experienced guide with deep historical knowledge of the areas we were to visit (Baixa, Chiado, Alfama)...and Angela herself looked after us. We enjoyed the luxury of having Angela to ourselves, and as a result were completely immersed in her knowledge of the city - exactly what we wanted.
Having picked us up directly from our hotel, the pace suited us and Angela was happy to stop off for rests, photos and refuel breaks whenever desired ("skip that fried bacalao place, try this non-touristy one over here...").
Angela is not only extremely knowledgeable and very experienced, she is friendly and inexhaustible with a quietly wicked sense of humour! She was generous with her time, on a hot day, and dropped us off within rolling distance of a decent restaurant for lunch.
Thank you very much, Angela!

Gloria was incredibly helpful in setting up our tour. She patiently provided all of the options for a half and full day tour to Sintra and the outer areas of Lisbon, and was very communicative throughout the process of booking and leading up to the day of the tour. Our tour was also expertly done. We had a very comfortable car, our guide Catia was super friendly and informative, and we were able to see everything we hoped for. Highly recommend!

I have a special interest in Jewish history and have been fortunate to go on many Jewish heritage tours in different countries. Some of them were better than others. Gloria clearly stands out from the crowd. His knowledge of Jewish as well as Portuguese history and Lisbon's landmarks is exceptional, and she goes above and beyond to make the tour truly memorable.
A great tour guide!

Gloria is exceptionally knowledgable, as well as personable and entertaining. She tailored our tour of Jewish Lisbon to our needs. We started with the synagogue's tour. We then walked through the town toward the old central town and the river. Gloria pointed out sites essential to Lisbon's Jewish history, explaining what happened and how the site was changed after the expulsion. She tied the Jewish experience to the history of Lisbon. She made sure we enjoyed Lisbon itself, exploring back streets with few tourists, tasting desserts, shopping, and trying ginjinha, a delicious cherry brandy (with the cherries in it). Although we were with her for only 4 hours, we would have been glad to spend the whole day with her.

Angela Basilio was FANTASTIC. Knowledgeable, relaxed. Shared personal, historical and contemporary history that brought Lisbon to life for us. Saw an amazing amount of the city in a day but in a non rushed and well paced way. We appreciated her adapting to our requests to add certain things and she was great about keeping us hydrated, nourished and knew where the cleanest public access restrooms could be found along the way. Highly recommend her and this company that our hotel sourced for us. THANK YOU ANGELA!

A highlight of our trip to Portugal was a morning walking tour of historic Lisbon with guide, Gloria Ribeiro. We loved her enthusiasm for sharing the local stories and history, her in depth knowledge and even her excellent photography skills. Having family photos without one member always missing is a great momento of this trip. Another highlight was her inside connections with the caretaker of a famous church that got us private access to view the interior (and say a prayer too :)
We hope to connect with Gloria on a future visit and see even more of her great city, Lisbon and the surrounding areas. She was always prompt to reply to emailed questions, and even after the tour was willing to provide travel advice.

Gloria was a wonderful guide, taking me around Libson, flexible and focussing on things I hadn't seen or heard about (I had already been in the city for a few days and done one general walking tour). She was very knowledgeable and very happy to focus on whatever I was interested in. In addition to having great insights about the history and the sights, she was also full of helpful practical information which is always great for a traveller. I just wish I had known about that secret elevator on my first day in Lisboa!!!! Thanks again Gloria!

I was recently in Lisbon on a very short weekend trip. Not having a lot of time, I needed to be able to see the city in the most efficient way whilst still enjoying the city and getting a genuine 'feel' for it. Gloria from Lisbon Secrets ticked all of the boxes and I would highly recommend her tours to anyone visiting the city.
My personal experience started off in Arrábida where I was able to sample some of Portugal's delicacies in the form of cheese, wine, and sweets. We visited the publicly open cellar of one of the local vineries and also learned of cheese-making at a former cheese-maker.
We returned to Lisbon afterward and saw all of the best of the city, including the major monuments as well as the best views of town. Given it was a full day tour, Gloria also found an amazing seafood restaurant by the water for lunch.
Given the distance between all of the sites we had to use a car - Gloria provided this herself (a well maintained Skoda) and did all of the driving as well, so there was no need for hiring an expensive chauffeur for the day (although I understand this is available if desired).
We packed in loads during the day which I really appreciated - a good balance was maintained between seeing everything and trying to do too much.
Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Gloria and her firm. When I return to Lisbon I will definitely be contacting them to see more of their beautiful country.

We were in Lisbon for a day and half and wanted to to see as much as possible. We had read TA reviews and were impressed with the positive reviews and decided to book a full day tour of Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais. The tour is available in two formats; one w/ a guide (who also drives the van) and one with a tour guide and a separate driver. If you can swing it go w/ the separate driver otherwise your guide is busy parking the car (which can be challenging) rather than touring the city. Our guide was Angela B. I believe that she is a life long resident of the Lisbon area and is very knowledgeable in the area's history and highlights. Her personality was light and friendly and we all enjoyed her company, insight and stories about life in Lisbon. In summary, the sights we saw, and the experiences we had would have been impossible in such a short period of time in Lisbon without this tour. Highly recommended!

We would like to book a 1/2 day driving tour - off the beaten path/non touristy if possible - on Friday 3/30. We have walked Lisbon and have been to the Castle but would like to see Cascais, Belem Tower and any other historical sites recommended. There are 3 of us - myself, husband and 20 yr old son. We check out of our AirBnB at 11a and have a 10p flight out. Any time in this window would be great!
Please advise if this would be possible and the $$$ to do so. Thx you.

How much does a private guided tour cost. Is there a starting price or does it depend on the length of time the tour takes. Thank you
Written June 17, 2015
Thank you for your contact. It depends a lot on the tour. If it's a walking tour the fee for 2 persons for a 3h30 tour is 100€, if it's a tour with private car for two persons it has a fee of 180€. The full day tour (8h) has a fee of 250€ for the Lisbon tour including transportation in private car. Regards
