Just a few minutes walk from the busy Bairo Alto, the botanical gardens is a beautiful peaceful place with lots of plants and trees, and very few people around....a great escape.

An outside botanical garden with well-established large trees and plants from many semi-tropical areas. The entrance is at the top of the hill; don't plan on walking up there from the main drag (Ave. Da libertad) unless you are a mountain goat. Since it is...More

Don't expect a show garden - it's an arboretum with trees growing as they might in the wild. Lots of interesting species and plenty of seats along the way. Lots of shade and a very peaceful few hours wandering around. Not expensive to enter 3-4...More

We were informed the garden is closed for 6 months for restoration/ renovation which was very disappointing after the somewhat tiring walk to get there. Likely helpful to check to see if it's open before making the trek.

I loved my time strolling the grounds of this garden, it provided me with beautiful photos that capture the stillness. Perfect haven from the hustle and bustle of down town

It is more like a city park then like a botanical garden. There is nothing special there to pay for, it should be free and open to the public. If 2 don't have too much time in Lisbon, than 2 should better go to the...More

Not that impressive an area. Has a lot of tropical trees but not any particular area offering any interesting landscaping. :Lack of maintenance. You could spend an hour strolling but would probably enjoy a local park area more without having to pay 2 euros for...More

On our first day in Lisbon, we were excited to visit the Botanical Gardens and took the funicular from Restauradores up the tall hill and ventured around asking directions until we found the site. There was a small sign on the locked gate saying it...More
