I walked the riverside path all the way to the Vasco da Gama bridge and of course this building cannot be missed, it's a very futuristic looking work of architecture, at a great riverside location...the cable car also starts/ends near here

The Vasco da Gama Tower is a must-see facility in the Oriente district. The Vasco da Gama Tower is a tower, about 140 m high, built next to the Tagus River in Parque das Nations in Lisbon for EXPO'98, the 1998 World Exhibition. The designers of the tower are architects Leonor Janeiro, Nick Jacobs and three designers who operate under the name SOM. The caravel-shaped tower is breathtaking with its size and charming location.

Its a wonder to walk in this city of Lisbon and find out that in every corner there is a monument, or a statue, or even a great building like this one to see!!!!

A awesome Tower, that is really tall, and stands out on the landscape. Well worth a visit, if your in the area.

On the way back to San Francisco in the U.S. from Berlin, Germany we had a 17-hour layover in Lisbon, Portugal because we were flying TAP Portugal Airlines. While landing at the Lisbon Intl. Airport, we saw this tower that looks a lot like the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. So after landing, we got an UBER ride to take us over there. Inside we found a very cool bar and two fine restaurants. The 5 Star one in top of the tower was closed, thank God ($$$$$), so we stayed on the ground floor. The building next to the Tower is a $$$$$ Hotel (no we did not) but for about $400.00 Euros (and up) you can have a nice room to stay in after drinks and dinner.

My girl drinks Chardonnay but, I'm a bit more adventurous. So when the waiter asked what I wanted to drink I said: "I like Tropical Drinks. Tell the bartender to impress me".

Yes, it’s a very tall tower and worth a photo if you are in the area as it looks pretty striking. But wouldn’t suggest a special trip to it.

Built as an observation tower with panoramic elevators, the Vasco da Gama Tower is now a luxury hotel. It is almost 140m in height making it the tallest building in the city and one of its main landmarks.

Because it is a private hotel now I don’t think it is possible to get on top to the observation deck. But if you take the telecabine then it is at one end of it and you can observe it from up in the gondola and then from the bottom.

Like a sail billowing in the breeze this is a great addition to the Parque das Nações. As with most in this revamped area, it was constructed for the Expo '98.

Now associated with the luxury Myriad Hotel, its form is redolent and honours the many brave explorers sailing to the world from the Tagus.

Great vistas of it are to be seen from the Telecabine Lisboa, the cable-car that traverses from the Aquarium to the Tower.
