Our guide, Fabrizio, knew a lot about Pessoa, and was nice person and comunicator. He is passionate about his work, and extremely competent (he is an investigator in literature, and he is specialized in Fernando Pessoa's work and life). The places we visited were nice, an the walk was not tiresome, with several stops, always filled with facts and curiosities... More

Our guide for the evening -Carla. She was fantastic , took us on a gastronomy tour and went to some amazing places that you would not find. We had coffee for starters in the oldest cafe in Lisbon. Then walking and talking all the way to a beer and tapas at a brewery where monks brewery their own beer! More... More

Fernando Pessoa was a famous writer and poet in Portuguese speaking countries. Seeing a city through the eyes of its artists, writers or chefs is always the way I want to see a city. The tour guide Fabrizio Boscaglia turned out to be a person who had extensively studied Fernando Pessoa at the University of Portugal. I had just arrived... More

We did a scavenger hunt with Lisboa Autentica and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The staff were lovely and the hunt was incredibly well organised. We got a great overview of the sights of Lisbon and there were also some questions about the bride included (it was a hen party!), to give it all a more personal touch. On... More

Just completed this tour, starts at 10.00. This is a walking tour with hills and steps!!! It was brilliant! Katrina took us to places it would have taken us ages to find, she knew all the shorts cuts and alleys. She was also very knowledgeable, and personable. Included is a tram ride and a coffee and a cake. recommended!

Had a great afternoon being guided around the old town. We would have missed so much going solo. The booking was easy and you can't miss the meeting point and great value for money.

Thank you Noemi and Paulo! Went on a ride with the great aforementioned tour guides. Showed myself and a friend all the best places in Lisbon, by the end of the tour they made me fell as if Lisbon was my second home. Provide bits of information at every stop and were just generally nice people to be with. They... More

We signed up for the Lisbon Essential tour with a wonderful guide named Catarina Gomes. Couldn't have asked for a better, more knowledgeable, friendly, easy-going leader.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
