Top ways to experience Altice Arena and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Parque das Nações
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and structures that once were the home of all the Expo's attractions and exhibits are still culturally and artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the amazing Lisbon Oceanarium (one of the most spectacular things you'll ever see in the city) will take your breath away: its respect and will to preserve natural wildlife is uncanny. Easily accessible by metro, bus or taxi from the city center, Parque das Nações is highly recommended for anyone who'll spend more than 3 days in the Portuguese capital.

This area is great with lots of restaurants by the river, left and right of the Altice Arena. It has been a couple of years since we have been down this way, but there is a little bar, between the restaurants, and at 2.50€ for half a litre of beer, it has to be one of the cheapest places in Lisbon to have a drink. They also have cocktails. It is open to the elements to a certain degree, but still under cover, so wrap up warm this time of year....

We saw AeroSmith here. What a fantastic venue with friendly, helpful staff. Well organised, tight security which made us feel secure in a venue which holds 20,000. Sound was great. Queues for refreshments moved quickly. No queues for toilets. We had booked Balcao 1 tickets. These were seated, but not numbered, you got to choose where you sat. Advice - go early and choose section 3 (great seats). Having been to numerous concerts in Ireland and UK, we will definitely return to this arena purely for atmosphere and organisation. It made for a very pleasant evening.

Great facilities, architecture, staff, logictics and anything else you want at a music venue, but worst sound experience you can have on a live concert.
This venue was designed intending to have the sound speakers hanging from the ceiling. That way the acoustic is stellar. That’s how the sound was played on the show presented at Pavilhão Atlântico during Expo 98.
The problem nowadays is that all the shows I’ve been at this venue (several) have the typical configuration with the speakers mounted around the stage resulting in massive echoes and many sound frequencies completely imperceptible.

Absolutely terrible. I can’t understand why the larger international bands keep playing here. I’m starting feeling agonized even before the show started.

Formerly known as the MEO Arena, the Altice Arena hosts almost all of the concerts in Lisbon by international singers and bands of renown. Inside there are several stand where concert goers can buy food and the various entrances to the different sections are well signposted for ticket holders to find their places. There are a good number of toilets, which are well maintained. Large conferences are also held here on occasion. It's about 200 metres from the Oriente Metro Station and the Oriente mainline station.

Great gig tho the long line to get in was unusual but it moved quick, the sound was good inside. Only down point was there was patrons smoking inside the arena near the toilets which for modern arena disappointing for this be allowed to happen
