What a place! If you only go to grab a drink and stare at the walls for an hour, you will still have an experience! We thought the place was absolutely brilliant except for the staff who were actually quite weird - or they were playing up to some strange idea that they had to be super stiff and even rude in a small way, as part of the “experience” perhaps? anyway, the waiters all turned away from me as I tried to engage them regarding the history of the bar, except for one young man. He, on the other hand, was willing to talk briefly and when asked whether he liked working there, hesitated for a long time and then said” No, not really”! I think the head waiter/owner/big guy needs to lighten up a bit and not take himself too seriously. I think he, his staff and especially his punters would have a far better time if he did! Still, the G&T I had was superb and the place is quirky beyond compare, so check it out.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying drinks at this one of a kind bar in Lisbon. Located in the trendy Principe Real neighborhood, this amazing cocktail bar is anything but modern and trendy. And we are all immensely thankful for that. An institution in Lisbon that must be visited to be appreciated. While the staff may be a bit stuffy that only adds to its old world charm and mystique. Stop by for a drink before or after dinner and you will be glad you did!

To be honest, I don't know how to describe Pavilhão Chinês. It's a bar and a restaurant, quite large where you can have drinks or eat. It's decorated very Kitsch, with statues, collections of plumb soldiers,... It's very cool. It's not a cheap place, but I think it's worth the visit (and the drinks)

Would not know where to start. Unique does not even start to describe its uniqueness, quirkeness, weird interior. It must have millions of collectibles (maps, soldiers/plane models, mugs, anything you can imagine).
And the weirdest part is that you might bot find the place because the door is closed and you have to ring the bell and someone had to open it for you!

This bar was easily the coolest place that I visited. It’s the most random, bizarre and brilliant bar. Packed full of toys in cabinets, every space is filled with something different. You could literally spend hours there drinking and admiring the awesomeness of the place. There was also snooker / pool tables. Highly recommend.

For us it was a great way to end our evening. Friendly staff. At this moment in time you cannot drink alcohol without ordering food. As we had already eaten, we enjoyed dessert with coffee/digestives.

If you're into old-school cocktails and all things unusual this is a must-visit in Lisbon. Wall to wall and floor to ceiling with bizarre ornaments - the pictures and other reviews certainly go into more detail about this. Compared to Australian cocktail prices it's all very reasonable here, for 10 euros I received a Negroni free-poured and mixed in a jug, which came to the very brim of a martini glass. Definitely a sledgehammer start to the night. The only criticism I can make of this fascinating venue is the music selection, as for some bizarre reason they had R&B playing - definitely not suited to the style of venue and drinks. Not a deal-breaker by any means, and definitely a bar worth visiting.

Although initially overwhelmed by the large array of goodies to view, the poor service we received quickly melted this into tacky car-boot sale tatt! We arrived there eagerly anticipating the wonders it had to offer, yet the waiter, old and pompous, was rude and unattentive. A very 'get over the shelves and order immediately' kind of view. The drinks menu was thrown at us, mended with duct tape like a scene from Saw, and our very friendly waiter quite literally raised his voice when he saw that I'd folded a page back too far! It was like a Pretty Woman moment. Good for a quick drink and nothing more.

Well, i went this place with the advice of our tour guide. It is a stylish place, nice for a to take a photo. Waiters was not only waiters but gentlemens. They were suited up. Cocktails were good and there many choices you can select from.

Pavilhao Chines is more a museum than a cafe.
An incredible amount of all kinds of collectors items displayed in more than 5 rooms.
Little toy soldiers not hundreds, thousands from the first and second word war. Even a little Hitler toy-doll hanging dead on a rope. I have never seen things like that. Together with Chuchill, Stalin. dolls. Posters from WW 2 saying we defeated the huns, now we have to defeat tuberculoses ( IN French). A Room with more than hundred WW 2 planes hanging on the ceiling. And more, much more. If you are in Lissabon you must visit this place, don't thank me, thank the owners and staff. They are very proud of this place!!!

I am pretty sure they do but you could email them. Everywhere in Portugal seems to take cards.

Is there a meal menu? Or can you recommend a good place near by for a reasonable dinner.
Thanks

Well we did not eat at Pavilh-o Chines just a few cocktails. It's really interesting place good service, fascinating to have a mooch around with plans and boats and soldiers all over.
A place to eat would be La Paparrucha it's just up the road on the other side of road (Turn Right out of Pavilh-o Chines)
If you like Argentinian steak this is one of the top places to eat it and go for a window seat as it has a spectacular view. You need to book a table.
All the best and have a good trip
