Well worth a visit!

The best botanical garden we’ve visited. A calm sanctuary amongst the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. Would highly recommend.

Great place
Oct 2021 • Friends
Great place to vist, especially for children. It was a pity that a big part was closed due to a wedding, and other part was under maintaining.

Three in One!
Jul 2021
Although called Estufa Fria, this complex actually consists of three greenhouses: Estufa Fria (Cold Greenhouse) - the largest; Estufa Quente (Warm Greenhouse) - medium size; and Estufa Doce (Sweet Greenhouse) - the smallest. The whole complex is covered by a protective, special wood lathing roof, but It’s quite easy to forget that one is actually in a greenhouse. Some of the pathways give the impression of actually being out there ‘in the wild’.

Probably a good idea to wear shoes with solid tread on the soles, as some of the little pathways, especially in the Warm Greenhouse and Sweet Greenhouse, are carpeted with tiny little pebbles, which could make for a ‘slippery’ experience.

Good signage. Lots of benches along the pathways. WC in the Cold Greenhouse. Excellent brochure, with a map of the complex, available in both Portuguese and English. Very helpful lady at the ticket office. Lovely way to spend a few hours!

Hours open
Daily:
10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (summer)
09:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (winter)

Estufa Fria is located in Parque Eduardo VII, so it’s easy to access by either metro or bus. Most visitors will arrive at the bottom of the park, facing the monuments at the top of the hill. There are paved lanes on either side of the large, central ‘maze’ garden.

The pathway to Estufa Fria is off from the left lane, approximately opposite the large Carlos Lopez Pavilion on the right side of the park.

Amazing botanic garden
Sep 2020 • Couples
My boyfriend and I decided to visit this botanic garden after all the positive reviews and we were truly surprised. The entrance was free and there are 3 different greenhouses. Definitely recommended.

Lovely garden
Aug 2020 • Family
Estuda fria (Cold Greenhouse) is a beautiful garden worth the visit. It is composed by the bigger cold greenhouse and a "sweet greenhouse" and a "hot greenhouse". Beside the plans you can see a lot of birds, ponds with fish and tortoises. Entrance is cheap but on Sundays mornings is free. Easy to park and to get there by public transport. Good visit for families.

Calming Walk through Nature
Oct 2019
Several colleagues and I took a 90 minute detour to Estufa Fria while on a business trip to Lisbon. We enjoyed walking through the indoor gardens, seeing flowers, greens, and many cactuses. Although the experience was nice, I wouldn't rate it as the best of the trip. Make sure you can handle steep inclines and steps. It was cash only to enter (3 Euros each).

Beautiful!

From the Eduardo park, just take a small detour and visit this place. If you have the Lisboa Card, you can get in here for free! Its calm and very relaxing inside, so a nice break from the chaos outside. If you have a stroller, then this is not the place for you.

An Interesting and RElaxing Experience
Jul 2019
The tropical gardens are an oasis of calm in the central busy area of Lisbon. Well worth a visit to see these well presented gardens giving a feeling of calm in this otherwise busy area of the city.
