This is a beautiful place near Lisbon centre. Heaven for everyone who likes plants. The place is very big and built at different levels so you can observe the whole place from different angles. You have a feeling that you are in Hawaii or Brazil not in Europe.

Very large greenhouses with lush vegetation. A little less touristy, ideal for walking in peace and resting in a hidden corner.
Too bad it pays even if it's only a few euros.
Relatively off-center greenhouses downtown, good luck if you are on foot.
What to do if you have time and don't know what to do on a day.

You can also walk in the park “eduardo VII” next door which gives a nice view of the city (you can see little parrots flying)

There are 3 large greenhouses here to see, and all are interconnected. At the entrance, you can pay cash to the attendant to enter or use the kiosk to purchase your entry tickets. There is a free app that can be downloaded , but I could not find a map with it to assist in navigating the grounds. The place is built into a former quarry so there are lots of stairs and many winding paths. The variety of plants was nice but because of the difficulty in getting around (inclines), the gardens are not for everyone.

A hidden gem!
Our Receptionist at hotel recommended this to us. We nearly didn't find it, but oh I'm so glad we did. Yes it is up and down little steps within this hidden oasis or quiet and calm (Apart from the planes overhead!!) The flora and fauna was really well done. I would compare to our Eden Project, in Cornwall.

We went on a hot day, so it wasn't cold at all. The access is not well signposted, we walked a long way from Praça Marques de Pombal and had to ask where the entrance was. Despite this, it is worth the visit. The place is beautiful. There are exotic and lush plants. Lots of tranquility in the center of Lisbon.

Estuda fria (Cold Greenhouse) is a beautiful garden worth the visit. It is composed by the bigger cold greenhouse and a "sweet greenhouse" and a "hot greenhouse". Beside the plans you can see a lot of birds, ponds with fish and tortoises. Entrance is cheap but on Sundays mornings is free. Easy to park and to get there by public transport. Good visit for families.

This botanical garden was amazing and by far better than the Tropical Botanical gardens in Belem. It had a “cold greenhouse” which is a new experience to us. It was awesome and inspiring and relaxing all at once. We visited late one Sunday afternoon. It contained all your usual houseplants, but growing voraciously outdoors! Tree ferns, maidenhair ferns, monsteras, rubber plants. The paths are windy and uneven but this adds to the experience. A must see if you are visiting Lisbon and like plants!

Small botanic lush tropical garden centrally located off the park. Good afternoon side trip. Inexpensive experience. Recommend at least 30min for viewing. I bet it is very lovely when the plants are in bloom. Very few blooming plants in October.

We were here for a wedding. The venue was lovely and so much to see.
You can get lost in the maze so keep an eye out for the signs.
Wear comfortable flat shoes as there is a lot of walking and the surfaces are not all flat and easy to walk on.
For the wedding there was only 1 disabled toilet on the ground floor. Everyone else had to go up the stairs.
It was lovely to hear peacocks and see lots of birds around in the greenery.
Its a botanical venue - the uk version would be Kew Gardens

This was a brilliant, accidental find in the middle of Lisbon.
Such good value for money, the gardens inside are breathtaking. A plant lovers’ paradise!
There are so many levels to explore, and plenty of places to stop and admire the plants.
