About
The eighteenth century building where it is inscribed, near the Lisbon Cathedral, Alfama It has become a perfect fado scene. An old stable and olive oil store gave way to one of the most exquisite fado houses in Lisbon, the Fado Club, founded in 1995 by renowned guitarist and composer Mário Pacheco. The solid architecture is confirmed by the columns and the pointed arches. A well moiro inside yields charms. The Fado Club strives for the excellence of the fado environment that admits no disturbing factor. The vocation of this house of fado is therefore, from the ground up, ambitious, and this is mirrored in the caliber of the cast of resident artists: Maria Ana Bobone, Rodrigo Costa Felix, Sandra Correia, Maria Emilia, Cristina Madeira, Lina, Carlos Leitão and Miguel. Hood. Portuguese guitar, Ângelo Freire, Fado guitar, Flávio Cardoso.

We had a nice time there before we got our bill. When it was time to pay, the waiter tried to trick us to pay extra "service fee" and told us that the tax part was the "service fee". Apparently he tried to fool us because we looks like foreigner tourists. When we pointed out that the "service fee" he mentioned was actually the tax for the food and it's already included in the total price printed on the receipt, he said loudly "if you don't want to pay the service fee it's ok" as if it was our fault, and he fetch the receipt quickly so that we can't keep it (we didn't get it even we asked again for it). This experience was totally ruined.

Apart from that, the food and the Fado was ok.

A curious and strange place! Not a “club” as the name suggests, this is a restaurant with some Fado singers who stand and sing for 20 minutes, then take a break, returning 30 minutes later.

A low level, poor restaurant. We are confused what so many previous reviews found “excellent” - we couldn’t find anything to connect with this description or rating.

Pleasant polite staff, who escort you upon arrival to the building next door, where you can order drinks and wait. The starters of garlic prawns, salads and jamon were just ok, nothing special. The mains of octopus, duck and steaks were equally unexciting and tasteless. We suspect that everything had been cooked earlier in the day as nothing tasted fresh and all dishes were lacking flavor. Totally disappointed by all dishes, no great dining experience here. We rated it 1/10 for the restaurant & 6/10 for the Fado, this restaurant needs much improvement for us to ever consider returning!

I've never wanted to be on a cruise ship, and Clube de Fado is exactly what I think it would be like. A large venue with a room full of fellow tourists lining the rows of tables. We arrived at 8pm, didn't receive our dinner until around 9pm, saw maybe 15 minutes of fado before the musicians took a break, waited until 10 pm without any more music, and left very disappointed. Fortunately the small fado place in our neighborhood made up for what this big tourist trap lacked, an intimate, personal fado experience.
In all fairness, the waiter was efficient and the little bit of music we heard was good. The food reminded me of going out to dinner with my parents in the '60's. It's basically a tourist mill. If you're a bit more adventurous, you can find something that feels more authentic and serves more interesting food.

Disappointing! The service was awful...45 minutes for our first drink and dinner arrived 10 minutes before we had to leave because there was another show beginning. We were unable to finish our dinner and did not receive our dessert. The seats were terrible and right near the service entrance and exit for the restaurant. The food that we were able to try was not satisfactory. The music was good but the singers sand for 15 to 20 minutes and then took a 20 to 25 minute break.

Very pleasant atmosphere, they manage to create an intimate atmosphere during the moments when the singers perform. We listened to three different artists with an interval of about 45 minutes (between courses). The food is good, although they go a little overboard with the price (it should be noted that they charge you for the show...)
Very kind Jacqueline.

This is our second experience with Fado in Lisbon, where we're staying for five weeks. The food was not exceptional, but I would still classify it as good and crafted with care. The service, on the other hand, was really great, and the atmosphere created a beautiful environment, especially during the Fado performances when they dimmed the lights and added a lovely touch with candles on the table.
However, I must mention that, in comparison to the other Fado venue we experienced and after conducting thorough research, the pricing at this particular place was quite high. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but it seems to be influenced by the fact that it caters mostly to tourists.
That said, the ambiance and the quality of music and service were outstanding, and if that's your primary concern, then your expectations will indeed be met here. Just be prepared that it comes at a premium cost. I should also mention that, during all of our dining experiences in Lisbon, this was the only place that explicitly asked for gratuity, which further confirms its popularity among tourists. We where happy to leave a tip.

Fado, good. Food, average. Service, poor.

We arrived and quickly the reception area started to fill up with people. We had booked for 8pm and got there in plenty of time. We were seated and then the wait started. 15 minutes before we were given water another 15 before our order was taken. We ordered a bottle of wine which was poured but then stored in a wine cooler 2 tables over. As the waiter never came back to serve us the wine we ended up getting it ourselves (disturbing another couple). We were offered bread about 45 mins in but no butter or anything else to go with it. Just before the Fado started we got our starter. 15 mins of Fado which was excellent. We then waited 15 mins after Fado for our main. My companion had Octopus which was a little tough, I had cod which was good. 15 more minutes of Fado. We then left.

For what we were told is a high end restaurant, the service was poor. We fed back to the hotel (as we booked it through their recommendation. Many famous people have visited there and I am sure they got better service than we did. Not made to feel special, just a number. We both felt we were forgotten about. The waiter advised us service was not included in the bill however we did not feel the service was there so did not leave a tip. Normally I am a good tipper for great service but not on this occasion. I would suggest there are better places to go who would value your custom more.

In our opinion, the idea of combining a good meal with Fado singing was not a success. We had the feeling that the artists were disturbed by the clatter of plates and that the guests felt uncomfortable while eating. Firstly, they could hardly see the food on their plates because of the dim lighting and secondly, no one wanted to disturb the singing and music with their eating noises. We recommend bringing the food to the table first (it could also be a menu - easier to prepare) and then letting the music start. It is certainly more pleasant for both sides! An English-speaking waiter would also have been helpful.

What a wonderful introduction to Fado. The three singers and the two guitarists were superb.
Though the service was seamless and my entre of duck was very good, I'd say the overall review of the food from our group of ten was B-.
But the music -- it was divine!
