Address
Neighborhood: Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
How to get there
  • Baixa/Chiado • 3 min walk
  • Rossio • 4 min walk

Terrible costumer service at the shop
Feb 2020
The shop sells damaged clothes and doesn’t warn the costumer nor exchanges the item with the receipt.

I bought a shirt for 12€, not a designer one, btw, and when I went to try it at home I realized it had two big marks of a different colour that I didn’t see in the shop due to the dim lighting
.When I took it back, the assistant informed me they don’t exchanges and she wasn’t at least pleasant about it. Not even a “ lamento” ( sorry ).

Best Vintage Shop in Portugal
May 2019 • Couples
I went to over a dozen vintage shops during my time in Portugal, and this was the best one. The curated collection is vast, and the prices are great. I wish I could teleport here all the time.

One of my favorite vintage shops I’ve been too, full of cool, quirky gems. I adore the slow fashion branding, helpful and friendly staff too. Well worth a visit even just for a browse, a coffee and a pastel de nata. Picked up a few pieces here, from running shorts to a hand stitched, silk, patchwork jacket!

Amazing shop for vintage lovers! Good choice of clothes and accessories, displayed by color and style. You can see how much they care about the pices they sell, and how much they love what they do. I bought a stylish Charlie's angel style silk blouse and I enjoyed the explanation given to me by the owner about the sleeves and their evolution over the time! Reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Cool place!
Sep 2017 • Couples
We've been here twice: on the second day of our 5 day trip to Lisbon, and on the last day not long before we had to go to the airport.

It's a great place to have lunch. First time I went for the chicken toast, second time for a burger. Both were really good! I had a cocktail too (a 'Brexit'): was also good! It's also more calm around that area. Most people have lunch closer to the centre. Prices are more than okay here.

This place is part of a vintage shop, with lots of cool clothes and accesories.

I would definitely come back if we ever return to Lisbon!

Not just your average thrift shop

Located in a stunning building, A outra face da lua is a vintage clothing store like no other, housing an array of beautiful garments alongside a cute café. The atmosphere is trendy and chic, and the vintage items are great quality and neatly displayed. Prices remain reasonable and the offering of items is vast, with everything from blouses to jackets to accessories, if you’re patient you are bound to find a hidden beauty. The shop also has a beautifully retro café, the perfect way to end a shopping trip.

* Good to know: You can leave your partner in crime to enjoy a glass of wine whilst you have a shop – it’s a win win.

Great vintage store
Mar 2017
Great vintage store, I purchased a short kimono to wear with jeans, they have mostly 1970s stuff lots of men's stuff too, purses, scarves, a great selection of vintage dresses. The best part is the cafe where husband can have a beer and get on wifi while I shop! Charming place with affordable beverages and eats! If you love vintage stores like me you have to go here.

Most of the reviewers on here will have popped into A Outra Face da Lua -The Other Side of The Moon- once or twice on a holiday. I'm an addict, and I've been through the menu twice over.
The main thing about this place is ...it's cool. For a start it is also a vintage clothes shop, so there is a constant theatre show of people coming in and trying on cookie stuff. But the food is cool too: my favourite is the guacamole and corn chips which I usually order with the hummus and carrot sticks. Try it with a pot of (real) ginger tea. That's a snack, of course, and I'll often have the Menu do Dia which is an inventive daily offering of lasagne or stew etc but always served with a twist. Hamburgers, toasts, sardines, all excellent.
Don't miss the desserts. They love to experiment (bright green sponge cake?), so it's always best to go to the counter, peer over and ask. Delicious things are done with chocolate. The house wine is excellent and there are cocktails which my lady friends like. They don't care if you drink coffee and use the wifi or just sit and slowly get tipsy all afternoon.
I said the place -and the food- were cool, but that's not all. If you don't like people dressed in the wildest outfits then don't come here. A Spanish riding hat (bright red), a waiter in a fur coat, a slinky vintage cocktail dress ...you name it. I'm talking about the servers AND the customers here.
It's less interesting outside, but when the sun is shining you'll find me there with a Cuban cigar. I've even got a cool hat now...
