A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Great spot, great liquor. Nice after dinner dram. And ingenious selling of a “test tube” of the liquor you can take with you. We bought a whole bottle. And honestly I would do the regular shot and not the chocolate cup. It was good but more in the regular shot and cheaper by a bit. Stop
By if in rossio station area!

This bar is nestled into some stairs in a popular Lisboa district. We fancied a wee dram on the way to our next tourist spot and ended up enjoying a long shot of local port. Definitely worth a visit , especially if the weather permits you to soak up the sunshine on the small outdoor tables.

We happened up on this place by accident when hiking up one of Lisbon's many hills. This tiny bar was halfway up so we thought we'd stop and sample one of the local drinks. We chose to have it in a glass but you can also have it in chocolate cups, and there are other drinks available including coffee if you don't like cherries.

Ginginha is a typical lisbon drink (sweet licorice), normally handmade by our grand-parents.
Is one of the best, located next to Rossio train station (one of the most beautiful buildings in Lisbon), taste it and you will love it!! :)

This tiny place is at the bottom of the steps at the Calcado do Duque and the bar and the lady serving are both very charming. Don’t be put off by looking at the Streetview image which shows it all shuttered up. Inside it is very clean, modern and welcoming. Ideal for a re-charge before climbing the steps or a reward for not stumbling down them! We loved the Ginginha!

After the Pasties we needed to make sure we tasted authentic Ginginha before leaving Lisbon.
We had some earlier in our trip in plastic cups so wanted the authentic chocolate cup Ginginha so we’re delighted to stumble across Ginginha do Carmo in Bairro Alto. We had a shot in the chocolate cups followed by a free refill before eating the cups. Really tasty shot and very friendly bar lady serving us.

After long day, walking over the beautiful Lisbon, we finally found that nice tiny cafe.
Take three shots of Ginginha and we again full of challenge and ready to open new horizons of Lisbon.
I'm add a photo for you friends so you will know that price is cheap.
